The shadow pack had walked to the other packs den while talking to each other excidetly in hushed whispers.

The shadow lord walked up to Jacer. "How far until we get there?"

Jacer looked at the sky. "We should get there when we can see the full sun in the sky. The pack should be waking up then, so we'll catch them while their half asleep."

She nodded. "Very good."

After the sun was completely visible, a shadow wolf walking ahead shouted, "We're at the ravine!"

The murmuring, which had died down, started up again.

"Jacey, why don't you go lead the way to the den?" The shadow lord asked.

Jacer nodded and passed all the other shadow wolves swiftly.

The shadow wolves complained a bit, but let him pass.

As they walked, Jacer noticed that the rock wall was gone, and he figured Twisty and Baylee had rebuilt their forts back on top of the ravine. Again, he had that feeling, but it disappeared again.

The shadow pack had started to speed up, both excited and anxious to feel blood between their paws.

They eventually reached the hole, and they all crawled through.

The lord stalked into the center. "Hellooooo my pitiful pack! How are we all doing today?"

Darox and the wolves leapt to their paws. "What are you doing here?" He spat. His eyes fell on Jacer. "What is going on?"

Jacer flattened his ears. Before saying anything, the shadow lord interrupted.

"Oh, I thought you were smarter then that. Can't you see a good plan when it unfolds right under your muzzle?"

Darox growled. "Jacer, you are idiotic. Do you hear me? Following these fools? You aren't a wolf. You're nothing, along with your friends."

Jacer started to feel a bit ashamed, but he didn't show it. He was rejected, and the packs that had rejected the wolves of the shadow pack needed to pay.

Jacer's eyes fell on Twisty. The look in her eyes... Was that pain? But the shadow lord had started to speak once more.

"You wouldn't dare call us fools, Darox, if you know what's good for you. Shadow pack, attack!"

Chaos raged in the den. Jacer noticed they were a bit outnumbered, but the other pack's movements were slow and reactions were delayed.

Then, he saw Twisty, still in the corner. She was distracted, her eyes searching for her target. Jacer took the chance to lunge at her.

She squeled in surprise as Jacer knocked her to the ground. She looked up into Jacer's eyes, with the look in her eyes once again. "Jacer...why have you done this to us?"

"When your rejected from your own pack, rage takes over, Twisty. And it can't be stopped. Not like you understand." He clawed at her muzzle.

She squealed again, and Jacer started to put weight on her chest.

"Yes...y...yes...I do..." Twisty managed to say.

Jacer released some of his weight, but still kept her pinned down. "What?"

Twisty breathed in. "I said, I do."

"How would you? Your father is here with you."

Twisty shook her head. "Kasern isn't my father. He took me in. I was kicked out of my original pack. My mother didn't want me."

"Yeah, and you found another pack. I was stuck alone until the shadow pack found me. And still, I fit in, but I'm not loved."

"You were loved. Maybe if you opened your eyes, you would see that."

"Who? The grass? I doubt it, Twisty." Jacer felt a stab of sadness as he saw who he had become. But this is where he belonged.

"No, Jacer. I did. I loved you since the day I met you... But you wanna kill me. So just do it."
