Chapter 5:Voltron Returns

"This is it.I get to see Black again." Nova said nervously,hurrying down to Black's chamber with the 5 chosen Paladins. "Gah!I'm so nervous."
"Why?I mean it's just a robotic lion that morphs with other lions to form a giant robot that determines the fate of all known universes." Lance said.Nova scoffed. "Just a robotic lion.These lions have been around for a long,long time.They have their own thoughts and feelings.I bonded with these lions....they were like..a family I always wanted to have."
She says.The other Paladins gave her a small look of sympathy. "Oh,we're here."
They stopped outside the large door. "On the other side is Black.Black's on the other side of this door." Nova said,tearing up.Before she places her hand on the door,she hesitates,drawing her hand back. "Oh no.What is he going to say?!I've been gone for 10,000 years!I haven't played with him,tell him any bedtime stories,sang him any songs!Heck,I haven't done MY OWN JOB for crying out loud!"
"Relax." Nova turns,seeing Shiro walking up to her,placing a hand on her shoulder. "You're rambling,you'll be fine."
Nova takes a quick,deep breath.With a nod,she turns around,walking over to the door once again.All of the lions eyes light up.She places her hand on the door and she starts to sing.(Meloetta's song of the Sunset).

The doors open.They all stand in awe as the Black Lion appears.The Black Lion roars,as do the others. "Hello Black!It's been a long time,hasn't it?"
The black lion roars.Nova blushes. "Oh,thank you.You look rather dashing yourself." Nova says with timidity.The Black Lion dips is head,it's cold metal nose touching her forehead.She smiles.....until the alarm goes off,blaring.
"Sendak is entering the Arusian atmosphere.We need Voltron now!"
The Paladins prepare for action.They all enter their lions,taking to the skies and the land outside the castle.
"The ion cannon is back online!" Says a Galran soldier. "Fire!" Sendak commands.The ion cannon fires,hitting the barrier.The ground below shakes and they all groan,trying to keep their stance. "Man,those Galra guys repair things fast." Hunk says. "The barrier gets weaker with every blast.Once that shield goes down,the castle will be defenseless." Coran says in panic. "I can give you cover with the castle defenses for a while,but you have to form Voltron now or we'll all be destroyed!" Allura commands.
"Jeez,no pressure."
"Allura,I'll help keep up the castle with my magic.And ignore Allura.I believe in you guys!" Nova says.
"Listen up,Team Voltron!The only way to succeed is to give it all you've got!This looks bad,but we can do this!Are you with me?" Shiro asks.The other four nod. "I'm nodding.Is everyone else nodding?" Hunk asks.Lance,Keith,and Pidge groan "Yes."
"Let's do this!"
They all charge from behind the barrier. "Uh,how?"
"Good question.Does anyone have any ideas of how to form Voltron?" Shiro asks,hoping to get some ideas. "I don't see a 'combine into giant robot' button anywhere on my dashboard." Lance says.
"This is insane!Can't they just cease fire for one minute so we can figure this out?Is that too much to ask?!" Pidge yells furiously.Pidge halts the lion,turning around and destroys two Galra speed ships.
"We've got to do something." Keith says,stopping his lion. "Combine!" Hunk yells,bumping into him harshly and Red falls.He quickly gets back up.Keith groans,recovering. "Hey!" Keith yells. "Okay,that didn't work."
"Quickly,Paladins!Our energy levels are getting low!" Allura says with warning,staring to grow impatient.An idea then pops into Shiro's head as the five lions run side by side.
"Maybe if we fly in formation,we'll just combine.Take off on my cue.One,two,three,Voltron!"
"Here we go!"
The lions jump flying into the sky. "Come on,come on!"
"Nothing's happening."
"Hey,wait,wait,wait!I feel something!" Lance yells.
"I do,too.I feel it.It's like we're all being pulled in the same direction!" Hunk adds.
Shiro sighs. "Uh,guys,I think I know why.Look up."
"What the cheese?" Lance says.All five were being pulled by a magenta beam. "Sendak's ship is sucking us in like a black hole!" Pidge yells.Sendak smirks. "Send a report to Emperor Zarkon:'The day is ours'."
Allura and Coran groan as they helplessly try to wade off the ion cannon until the barrier collapses. "Oh,no!" Nova quickly uses most of her magic energy and forces a magic sphere around the castle.The ion cannon continues to fire,but the sphere absorbs it,making it stronger;however,inside the castle,it fills Nova,who screams in agony.
"I-I don't care what you say,Shiro.I'm panicking now!" Hunk yells.They all start screaming.
"It can't end here!" "This is it!" "It's been an honor flying with you boys." "Oh,no!"
Sendak smirks.The two Alteans,plus honorary,watch in sadness as their heroes are getting further away towards the fleet ship.Shiro thinks to himself,then looks up,pure determination written on his face. "No!We can do this.We have to believe in ourselves.We can't give up.We are the universe's only hope.Everyone is relying on us.We can't fail!We won't fail!If we work together,we'll win together!" Shiro yells. "Yeah!"
All the lions roar.Suddenly,the necklace around Nova's neck glow.Nova's eyes turn white,a flurry of power swirling inside of her as she sang.(Meloetta Relic Song)

Allura and Coran gasp.A white,wispy astral being,at least 50 feet tall,stood outside the castle.The being wore a flowing white and gold dress that could rival the true mineral and color itself,and her eyes glowed a pale blue.While this was happening,this was occurring.

Sendak gasps. "Voltron!"
The 5 Paladins are surprised. "I can't believe it!"
"We formed Voltron!"
"I'm a leg!" Hunk yelled randomly. "How are we doing this?" Lance asked. "I don't know,but let's get that cannon!" Shiro barks.Before they could do anything,the ion cannon fired,this time,at Voltron.In the nick of time,the spirit reflects the hit with her odd magic,the beam being sent right back to the fleet ship.MULTIPLE small ships are destroyed as the beam hits a wing of the fleet ship.The spirit turns back to Voltron.
"Paladins of the mighty Voltron.I am Vahlla,the lion caller.With Voltron,you lead our universes to an era of new hope and peace.Nova and I know you will.You are all destined for greatness." Then,she vanished right back into Nova's necklace.Nova awakens,confused. "Wh-What happened?!" Coran and Allura hug her tightly,smiling with glee. "You bought us some time!"
"O.....kay?"
Sendak groans as another wing is pulled off.Voltron pulls back its right arm/Red Lion,sinking it into the ship,firing a cannon.The same is done with its left arm/Green Lion.(But sadly,Sendak and few of his crew escaped through escape pods.)All the Paladins yells as they destroy the ion cannon,along with the ship.
Timeskip.......
The fight has been won.Voltron has dis-formed.Allura,Coran,and Nova run out. "Good work,Paladins!" Allura says.They all sigh. "Thanks,pretty lady." Lance says with a flirty smirk. "We did it." "Heck yeah, we did."
"Don't forget Nova!She had that giant spirit thing help us!" Nova blushes with embarrassment. "Come on Pidge,you're making me blush."
"How did we do it?" Shiro asks. "I was just,like,screaming the whole time.Maybe that did it." Shiro turns to Pidge. "We're not going to stop searching until we find your brother and father. Wherever they are, I know they'd be proud of you."
"We won the battle,but the war has only just begun." Allura says sternly with a stone cold face. "I'm afraid Zarkon will not stop until he gets these lions." She looks to Nova. "And Nova."
"Good thing you paladins know what you're doing, because you're going to have to form Voltron again and again." Coran  looks to Nova. "And you'll have to summon the spirit of Vahlla." Nova nods. "Okay."
"Psh,yeah totally." Hunk realizes something. "Wait,what?"
"We barely survived forming Voltron this one time." Lance said.
"And you only had to fight one ship.Wait until you have to fight a whole fleet of them!It's not going to be easy being the Defenders of the Universe." Coran said rather bluntly. "Defenders of the Universe,huh?" Shiro asks.They all turn around,looking to the lions. "That's got a nice ring to it."
(A/N:And after this book,Allura is basically going to be bitch so get ready for it.For you Allura fans out there,this is only my OPINION:I Hate Allura Because She Expects TOO much of people.She's so judgmental to others,especially Keith!For those who have watched season 2 already know,those who don't...finish season 2 first.)
Now for the extended ending........
Karae,beaten and weary from the explosion survival,was thrown before Haggar and Emperor Zarkon themselves by her own father,Sendak. "I tell you this.She has information being given to the resistances!" He shouts.Karae looks up at them,mentally begging for mercy.Haggar gives Sendak a blank look. "....Your a fool,I'll tell you that."
"Y-Your highest,what do-" "She's not a traitor.Last time I checked she was a cadet with absolutely no way to reach our own data files,and that she was the biggest klutz among ALL of our newest cadets." Also to mention that all resistances were brutally defeated and disposed of." Zarkon adds.
Sendak stands there,stunned.Karae even looks surprised. "Stick to capturing the lions of Voltron and Vahlla's vessel,you insolent fool."  Zarkon spits.
"Y-Yes Emperor Zarkon." Sendak mumbles as he leaves. "As for you," Haggar starts.Karae weakly gets back onto her feet. "Y-Yes,your highest?" Karae asks. ".......I see fit to make you my protégé,if anything were to happen to me.I sense you have...potential.Do I make my self clear?"
"C-Crystal." "Very well.your training starts at the earliest light tomorrow." "Gratitude..." Karae kneels down. "To you both,my humble rulers."
