Chapter 3 Matthew's Birthday Bash Failure!

Kai's POV

"So Matt what are we doing today?" I was taking selfies in the mirror.

"Penny boarding and Starbucks?" He said fixing his hair.

"Sounds good, so who's on 'Matthew Espinosa's babe radar' right now? We were walking down the stairs to the kichten." Umm... what makes you think that I have my eye on someone?" He was as red as the apple he just bit into.

"I'm your best friend, I know these things. Besides you haven't dated anyone in ages, whats up with you?" He completely avoided the question, I just brushed it away.

As we rode our boards down to Starbucks, Matt had the usual fangirls chasing us and it doesnt help that im a viner too. We took a few pictures, and headed into starbucks.

We got our usual, I get a vanilla bean frappè with 2 pumps of raspberry, and Matt gets a plain vanilla bean frappè. We quickly get our drinks and head to our secret hideout.

When we got there we automactcally raced to the middle of the feild and laid down. "Wow, 16 years old what did you plan on doing today?" I said in between sips of my Starbucks.

"Well, I was planning on going to my surprise party, but if you have other plans thats cool." I nearly choked to death.

"Who told you!?" I immeditly got up."It was that girl Rebecca or whatever, wasn't it?"

I was mad, all my hard work was ruined, because of some stupid fangirl. I grabbed my board, and started to leave. I heard Matt call my name when I was about to skate away. I turned around.

"If it helps, I think it's so nice of you no one has done that for me...ever. Thanks." he looked so honest, I couldn't be mad at him.

"Your welcome butthead!" he looked up and smiled.

*a few hours later ( 7 hours till Matt's "surprise" party)*

(Matt's POV)

I haven't told Kai what I need to tell her. I've known her for nearly 3 years, and ever since I've laid eyes on her I've been in love with her. I want to tell her today, but I'm scared she won't feel the same way.

"Hey Kai," I was hesitant. "would you like to... um... go to the movies next Saturday?" I finally got it out, but then I noticed she was wearing her headphones.

She finally took them out and said, "What was that matty?" I shook my head and said, "Nothing, it was Stupid." she shrugged and put her headphones back in.

(Kai's POV)

I have been working on this party for months. I got most of the magcon crew to come. But I felt as if something was gonna go wrong.

"What was that matty?" I said taking out my headphones.

"Nothing, it was Stupid." I simply shrugged my shoulders. I could tell something was wrong but, I knew he wouldn't tell me.

We finally got home, I had to go set up for his party all by myself at the field. Matt went up to his room and I went to the field to set up.

But right when I finished putting out the candles It started pouring rain. I had to go home and change and then I got a bunch of notifications. Now not only was the rain terrible the guys texted and said that there flights were canceled. I felt terrible, so I ran over to Matt's house and went up to his room. He took off his headphones and heard the thunder.

"Gosh Matty I'm so sorry I didn't check the weather and I should have. When the rain started I thought at least the guys will be here time cheer you up, but their flights were canceled! I feel completely awful about this." I plopped down on his bed, I was crying my eyes out.

"Kai it's okay I'm fine really." He grabbed me and engulfed me in a hug. "No it's not, I'm your best friend I should have had a back up plan! But no I had to go and only have one pla..." Just then Matt cut me off by kissing me.

At first I was shocked he did it, but then it hit me and I started kissing back. It was like fireworks at midnight on new years. It was absolutely perfect, but reality hit me, I was kissing my best friend! So I pushed Matt back and got up.

"Wait what are we doing? You're my best friend, we're not suppose to kiss like that!" he too got up. "But Kai I wanna be so much more than just your best friend I want to be your boyfriend." He was blushing and I'm pretty sure I was too.

"Really?" I took a step forward. "Yes." he took two steps forward and wrapped his hands around my waist and pulled me towards him. He looked me in the eyes and said, "Kai Naihe, will you be my girlfriend?" I took two seconds to think about it.

"Yes."
