Lia

The sun seeps through my windows as I wake up. I opened my eyes slowly and stretched my body out. I checked my phone and I got a call from Kian, actually several calls. Naturally, I called him back. He answered the his phone instantly, "Hey I've been calling you!" He said with a worried tone.

"Kian I'm fine, what's up?" I asked him getting out of my bed. I looked into my mirror and I looked gross. I groaned and walked to my bathroom to brush my teeth.

"Well I was wondering if you wanted to hang out today," he said. I put my phone on my sink and put it on speaker. I began brushing my teeth.

"Sure, what do you want to do?" I asked him.

"Wanna go to the mall?" he proposed. Ugh I hated going to the mall, there were so many kids there running around, it's just chaos.

"Nah," I said. Kian kept suggesting ideas but I thought they were kind of boring, I wanted something adventurous. I rinsed my mouth walked out of the bathroom. "Why don't we go on a road trip?"

"Road trip?" Kian questioned. "Where?"

"San Francisco?" I said. He chuckled.

"Let's go," he said. "I'll be over in 10 minutes." He hung up the phone and my body filled with excitement. I went down the hall to get a small suitcase. When I got it I ran into my mom.

"Where you going with that?" She asked me crossing her arms. She did not seemed very happy.

"Um Kian and I are taking a little road trip." I said putting the luggage behind me.

"Where?" she said with anger in her voice, she really wasn't happy.

"San Francisco..." I said looking down at my feet.

"Lia, sweetie, no." she said.

"Mom listen to me," I said attempting to convince her to let me go. "I'm a big girl, I can make my own decisions without the permission of my mommy. So I'm going to San Francisco with Kian. Kian is a good guy and you know that, he's like my best friend."

"I know but still you're not going Lia," she said. "After everything that has been going on, I'm not letting you go with Kian. That's final." My mom walked away and I threw my hands up in frustration. I was still going to San Francisco with Kian though. I heard the doorbell ring and I ran downstairs to answer it. It was Kian and before he even said anything I grabbed his hand and ran upstairs with him to my room. We got to my room and I shut the door behind me and locked it.

"Lia what was that all about?" Kian asked putting the duffel bag he had on the floor. I shushed him.

"My mom won't let me go to San Francisco so we're  going to have to sneak out." I whispered to him. He smiled and laughed. I started putting clothes in my luggage and then my mom knocked on the door.

"Lia who was at the door?" She asked, she tried opening the door but couldn't since it was locked.

"Uh I got a package," I lied.

"Alright." My mom said then I heard her walk away. I continued packing and when I finished I closed my luggage and decided to change into something comfy. I looked at Kian and told him to turn around. He buried his face into one of my pillows and I began to change. I put on a red and white t-shirt that was kind of cropped, light denim mom jeans, and black vans. I told Kian he could look up and he got up. I got a notepad and wrote a note telling my mom I disobeyed her requests and went in the road trip. There's going to be hell to pay when I come back.

"Ok I'm going to walk out and make sure it's safe for us to leave without getting caught, stay here!" I said to Kian. He gave me a thumbs up. I walked down the hall and looked into their bedroom, my mom was asleep. Luckily she's a deep sleeper. I closed her door quietly and then walked back into my room. I nodded my head to Kian and he grabbed his stuff and I grabbed mine. We both walked downstairs as quietly as we could.

We made it outside and got into Kian's jeep and he drove off. I had the biggest smile on my face and cheered. "Yes we're free!!" I looked over at Kian and he was smiling, as usual.

As the hours passed by Kian and I reminisced on old memories we had together. I missed hanging out with Kian, I don't want to mess this up again, I can't mess this up again. I can't let these feelings I have get to my head. Maybe it's time I move on from him, I mean would I like to be in a relationship with him? Of course. But what we have, our friendship, it's worth more to me than a having relationship with him.

5 hours of laughing and singing, we finally made it to San Francisco. We were staying in a hotel in the heart of San Francisco. We walked into our room and I jumped around the room with excitement. The blinds to the window was closed and I opened them dramatically. I squealed, "Kian look at this view! You could see all the buildings and the Golden Gate Bridge!!" Kian laughed and stood next to me and looked out. I looked up at him and I felt butterflies in my stomach. I looked away and went to unpack my things.
