"Apologies, Haruno Sakura-sama," said Obito with an apologetic smile as they pulled the bag off of her face. "Procedures, ya know."
Sakura sat with a content expression and a glint in her eyes. Despite her frazzled appearance and her arms bound to her back, she was fine.
Uchiha Shisui had spoken to them before they set out that day. As stupid and careless as Shisui acted, they all knew he was the one most on edge.
His mother was a yakuza's wife after all, and her entire life had changed because of his father. She couldn't get into the fashion industry without the fact that she had married into the yakuza being a scandal some brands just couldn't afford, no matter how great she was. She had had to settle for being taken completely under the kumichou's roof to get a job at a convenient store that happened to be on his turf.
And the same could happen to Sakura - if they weren't careful. They all knew of her ambitions to become a doctor. They wouldn't jeopardise that for her, no matter how much Itachi wanted her.
Suigetsu let the ropes free.
"Un! That's okay," she chirped, unfazed. Her big round green eyes blinked and she had a polite smile on her face.
"Ano...have you picked out a pretty yukata to wear to the dinner, Haruno Sakura-sama?" Deidara asked, their intentions for coming to collect her suddenly becoming clear.
Sakura cocked her head. "Yukata? No, I'm wearing jeans. 'Tachi-kun said casual, didn't he!"
Sasori deadpanned and turned to mutter to Suigetsu, "And this is the person who escaped my knots."
Yousuke scratched his own head as they all shared confused looks with each other. Deidara felt he had to be gentle when telling her she was being delusional and making things up.
"Ha-Haruno Sakura-sama, that's not true. You jumped out the window, ya know? Before the boss could get another word out?" A droplet of sweat slid down his forehead as he raised two shaky hands and shook them to gently let her down.
Her expression remained the same and then suddenly her face lit up. "Oh! I see what you mean then!"
(Sakura did not see what they meant.)
"And this is my apartment! I live with my good friend, Ino-chan, but she's out at the moment! Ne, ne, that's the convenient store I go to - oh! And over there is where I lost my keys!" she happily rattled on and on as the six large burly men covered in traditional tattoos and scars, carrying homemade weaponry, followed in a line behind her - one after the other.
In a weird way, they resembled ducklings teetering after their mother duck, squinty eyes flitting every which way she pointed and nodding each time she said something.
"Ano, Haruno Sakura-sama, how do you intend to get into your house then...?" Suigetsu carefully asked.
"It's fine, it's fine!" she insisted. She stopped in her step and craned her head, waving her arm wildly over her head. "Good afternoon, baa-chan, oyaji!"
An elderly couple who wore droopy sun hats waved back with rickety joints. "Good afternoon, Sakura-chan," they replied.
Through blurring vision and through the holes in their hats, they noticed the men behind her.
"Have you bought home some new friends?" the old woman asked.
"Yup!" responded Sakura, "We're about to all have a happy family dinner together, ne! I've made a lot of news friends, baa-chan! They're just helping me to find something to wear
"So sweet," cooed the old man. Together, they waddled towards the fence.
The six grew stiff.
The old man turned to Kisame. He gasped.
