Katniss' P.O.V
I am not very pleased with having to share a room with Johanna, but since Dumbledore assigned it, I must. I give Peeta a kiss as we leave, reminding him that I’ll see him at the dining room in 40 minutes. “I wonder what today’s gift is gonna be.” I say. Johanna shrugs. “I dunno. Knowing Dumbledore, it could be anything.” She says. When we arrive at our room, 38-03, Johanna and I both look at the doorknob. There’s no keyhole and, come to think of it, we didn’t get a key. Tris and Christina are next door to us, but they already got in. I take out my phone and call Christina. “Hello?” she says when I pick up. “How do you get into the room?” I ask. “Tap your band to the Mickey head.” she says. “Ok, thanks.” I say, and hang up. Johanna taps her band to the head. It turns green and the lock clicks open. Johanna pushes the door in. It’s not very big. It has two beds, a side table with a lamp and a clock, a TV, and a little room with two sinks and a door to the bathroom. On our beds are badges. One each. They say:
ORDER OF FICTIONAL CHARACTERS
APPROVED BY
ALBUS DUMBLEDORE
I HAVE THE RIGHT TO CARRY
ANY WEAPONS
BY ORDER OF ALBUS DUMBLEDORE
HEAD OF OFC
“But we don’t have any weapons,” I point out. A note materializes on the bed.
Katniss and Johanna
You must put on the badges before you can get your presents. You will be arrested if you take your presents in the park without these badges.
“What are our presents?” Johanna asks. “I guess we won’t find out until we put on the badges.” I say. Johanna and I attach the badges to our shirts. There’s a spot that shimmers on both our beds, and then our presents appear. On my bed, my favorite bow and a quiver full of arrows. On Johanna’s, her favorite throwing axes. I give a cry of relief and slide on the quiver. Johanna tosses the axes in her hands, a wicked grin on her face. Since we still have half an hour, I wash my face, go to the bathroom, and curl up on the bed to watch TV. The channel I’m watching, Disney Channel, is interesting. The show I’m watching seems normal, but then a talking dog comes on screen. I scream and scramble on top of the headboard. Johanna rushes out of the bathroom. “What?! What is it?!” she cries. I point to the TV. “oH MY GOD WHAT THE HELL IS THAT.” Johanna cries. “Call Finnick.” I order. Johanna whips out her phone. “FINNICK.” she says. Pause. “THERE’S A TALKING DOG ON TV.” Longer pause. “Promise?” Pause. “Ok, bye.” She hangs up. “He said it was fake.” I let out a sigh and roll onto the bed. “Ok, good.” By now, there’s twenty minutes before we have to meet everyone, so Johanna and I plan an epic prank on Tris and Christina. I tie an invisible string to the feathers of an arrow and shoot the arrow into the wall next to the door. I tie the other end to the sink handle, so when pulled the water will turn on. Then, Johana places her axe in the sink, with a little red paint smeared on it. Johanna hides outside. Finally, I smear red paint on my neck and place the bucket under the desk. I call Christina. “Can you come here? I need help with something.” “I’ll be there in a sec.” “Bring Tris, too.” “Ok.” They arrive at our room in a minute. “Where’s Johanna?” Tris asks. “She had to go ask Finnick something.” I say. “Oh. What do you need help with?” asks Christina. I point to the arrow. “Can you get that out of the wall?” I ask. Tris yanks the arrow and the water begins to run. “What’s that?” asks Christina. They walk to the back. “Oh god!” Tris yells. “Oh I’ll just bring that to Johanna.” I say. I take the axe outside and hand it to Johanna. “Johanna! You’re back. Wait...what are you doing? Stop it! NO!!!” I say. Johanna drives the axe into the ground with a thunk. I fall to the ground. Johanna walks back inside with the axe behind her back. “What happened?” I hear Tris and Christina ask. “Why don’t you go see?” she replies. The two rush outside. They both scream as they see my lying on the ground. Johanna runs outside, laughing maniacally with the red paint smeared on her hands. They scream again. I start to laugh. Johanna’s laughter becomes humorous. I stand. “WE TOTALLY GOT YOU!!!!!!!” I say. The girls look from me to Johanna and begin to laugh. “What’s say we amp this up and prank the boys?” Tris says. “That sounds perfect.” I say.
