KNOCKING ON THE LARGE, OAK DOORS, I waited for Dad's approval to come in. I wasn't permitted to just walk into his office – if he respected my space, I needed to respect his. He would often tell me that an alpha needed a space of their own, and the office was it for him. Hearing him grunt from behind the door, I went to open the door but Jordan's hand on my arm stopped me.

"Good luck," he mouthed. I nodded. Into the lion's den I went.

As soon as I entered, it was all formal. No longer was I just his disobedient daughter, but a disrespectful pack member. At least it was just Dad here – usually he had Caleb or Beta Mark behind him. This time, he was alone. That was a good sign.

"Shut the door and sit down," he didn't bother looking at me. Instead, his papers seemed to be more important. Or at least that's how it would seem to anyone else. I knew it was a tactic that he used to keep people on edge. Unfortunately, even though I knew it was a trick I still felt as if I was walking on eggshells. Quickly taking a seat, I waited to see what he would do, "Tell me what you were thinking yesterday, when you crossed the border?"

"I... I... I..." I stammered but Dad's sharp look stopped me. Taking in a deep breath, I knew I could do this. All I had to do was make it through this meeting in one piece, and I'd be fine. Just had to remember not to stutter, "I don't know what I was thinking."

"Clearly," Dad growled slightly. I gulped, "Once you crossed the border, what was it exactly that made you cross over into Alpha Gabriel's land?"

"Uh..."

"'Uh' is not a reason," he snapped, his irises glowing, "Answer the question properly."

"I was curious?" What did pull me to his land? I wasn't entirely sure – my feet had their own mind! Maybe it was the fact I'd never been anywhere aside from pack territory and the human city. It wasn't intentional to cross to another alpha's land – that was trespassing and was a highly punishable crime.

"I'm disappointed in you. Ever since you've found out that you are unable to shift like us, you've been defiant. One situation after another. It does not reflect well on our family! We are the ones who are to set the example for the rest of the pack. Did you ever think about that?"

"I–,"

"Of course you didn't. Your brother went through a phase like this. It was excusable though: he and his wold were exerting dominance, finding their position in the pack. He, however, calmed down quickly, knowing how his decisions impacted the pack. Your mother and I never expected this from you. We raised you to be the perfect female, the perfect mate and I am still training you to be the perfect anassa. You were always so..." my father had to stop his rant to think for a moment. I knew exactly what he was thinking – I was always the obedient one. I still was; I was normally too terrified to do anything. Honestly, I don't know what overcame me, "so quiet! And now look what's happened: you broke my law, you trespassed on another territory, you got yourself attacked by condemned and had to be saved by Alpha Gabriel. And he has refused my invitation because of your failure."
