Sheyna's POV

Driving home, excited about Jasmine's birthday dinner tonight at their house.

My mind drifted off a while but to a close topic.

My best friend and I would be graduating after this year...if you're wondering what course I took. Well, I took two courses...Culinary Arts ─you know? For cooking?─ and Fine Arts ─the painting thing-y, designs and photography yada yada─.

I know...it's like going through hell...but I'd say it's gonna be worth it. Jasmine only took one course. Culinary Arts. What can I say? I guess women love cooking. :)

After parking on our garage, I stepped out and went in the house. I noticed that the door was open.

"Mom? Dad? You here?" I called out

No answer...

Don't get nervous...I told myself.

"Mom? Dad? I'm home" Still no answer.

I walked towards the couch and put down the things I bought, glancing attentively around me.

I inspected the living room, calling out my parents. Then I went to the kitchen. There was an empty glass there except the little remains of ─I sniffed what's inside the glass─ mango juice?

As soon as I put back the glass, I felt something grab my leg.

I know exactly who this is.

As soon as the hand pulled my leg, I felt myself falling. But before I touched the ground, I kicked my assailant on his stomach and we both hit the floor. I quickly jumped up and threatened to kick him in the face.

"Stop it! Not the face, S!" My brother, Christian Dame or Chris scrambled to get up.

"Whatever." I muttered while laughing

He's always too soft when it comes to his face.

He says that his face

"...is my money maker and my foundation in life." He repeated his speech for the millionth time since I was born.

"More like foundation for girls." I rolled my eyes and he smirked. My brother could be an idiot sometimes...

"You drank all the mango juice left in the fridge?!" I asked, kinda pissed.

"About that..." He played with his thumbs like a five year old. I just glared at him.

"I was thirsty! It was a whole day of traveling! And why the heck are you glaring at me like Mom???" He snapped at me and I just chuckled

"I do not!" I defended myself

"Whatever. Serve me food 'woman'." He joked

"Yes, sir."

I took some cookies from the fridge, put it on a plate then served it.

"Happy?"

"Definitely." He answered while taking a cookie

"So, how's work?" I sat on the chair next to Chris

"Interesting. How's college?"

"Cool. And a tiny bit hard." I lied. It was very hard. Trying to juggle two courses for 5 years is hard. Definitely HARD.

"Tiny bit?" he chuckled

"Yeah." I looked at him weirdly "Are you doubting me when it comes to my studies?" I narrowed my eyes

"No! It's just, what I meant by 'college' is life in college and in this house...so? Parents giving you a hard time?"

"DEFINITELY. They come home just to try to persuade me. Damn, they're exhausting!"
