hey, this is the author from the future. i want you guys to know, going into this, that frankly this isn't my best work. i find this cringy, and a horrible display of some events. that being said, I am going to revise and edit all of the chapter. in the moment, I don't know if I will go on with this story. all I know, is that if I do post updates, chances are they might be slow until i get a proper schedule. take care, and I love you all xoxo (9/1/19) revised chapters will have a * symbol above them

Today was like any other Saturday, go to the cafe then avoid people and sing for money. Lillian had just woken up from a car zooming past as she sighed. a chill swept over her and she bit her lip softly.

"Not a night terror this time" she thought thankfully to herself.  Lillan was glad that she didn't have one, because then she would be taken to a orphanage. she would have to explain her story all over again, with minimal chance of getting adopted. this way just felt safer, easier. she sounds like a crazy person, but it's what works for her. isn't that enough?

Lillan got strange looks form people as if they have never seen a homeless teen. which they probably haven't, but nonetheless it was rude to stare. they quickly looked away as they met eyes with the female.

Lily, a nickname she was given over the years, ran a gentle hand through her rugged hair. a low rumble from her stomach was sounded, and she sighed. She got up, ready to head to her friend Jack's cafe. they didn't get along terribly well, but she drove her to school and let her use the showers. he also fed her on occasion. it was a situation that worked fairly well for the two.  as she walked into the cafe, the bell jingled and Jack looked up. a rough smile graced his lips.

"Well well well... look what the cat dragged in. What's up, pip squeak?" he asked, a small dark chuckle escaping his toned lips.

Lillian looked over at him and bit her lip. "Oh.. y'know. same old, same old." she mumbled softly, not returning the smile. her fingers played with the ends of her worn down sweater. she didn't get very new clothes, only having a set few. they all went through the washer at the upstairs home from the cafe. Jack's mom was nice enough to do that for her. In return, she'd sometimes help out and work at the cafe, not getting paid. it seemed like a fair trade.

"Here's some waffles kid, and then meet me out back. I got to go and get ready, then I'll drop us off at school. " Jack muttered to her, sliding over a small plate of waffles. He wasn't awful, yet he wasn't terribly kind. he was at a middle ground where he'd tolerate her. "You can go out front to sing, but I doubt anyone would notice." he smirked to himself, before going upstairs.

Lillian only ate half of the waffles, her appetite being shortanted. It wasn't that she didn't want to eat, but she wasn't used to eating a lot at a time. she took a moment to think of his words, and that was her original plan. so she quietly got up and left outside.

she walked over to the coner of the outside of the cafe. lily laid out her old hat in case anyone wanted to donate anything. she was going to sing a song she had listened to many times before form a musical she knew. It was fairly popular, unlike other musicals littered around Broadway. the song was called "Waving Through a Window"

Lillian had aboslutly fallen in love with the musical after listening to it on Jack's old Ipod. She listnes when she can, but that always isnt a guarantee. She inhaled a small breath, getting ready to sing. now, she wasn't the best singer, but she wasn't the worst. being in choir helped her sing, and know what she could.

"I've learned to slam on the break, before I even turn the key

Before I make the mistake, before I lead with the worst of me..

Give them no reason to stare, no slipping up if you slip away

So I got nothing to share

No I got nothing to say-yy

Step out step out of the sun if you keep getting burned

Step out Step out of the sun because you've learned, because you've learned

On the outside always looking in

Will I ever be more than I've always been 'cause I'm tap tap tap taping on the glass "

Lillian heard small claps, and something thrown in the bucket. So she countuined on.

"I'm waving through a window

I try to speak, but nobody can hear
So I wait around for an answer to appear
While I'm watch, watch, watching people pass
I'm waving through a window, oh
Can anybody see, is anybody waving back at me?

We start with stars in our eyes
We start believing that we belong
But every sun doesn't rise
And no one tells you where you went wrong

Step out, step out of the sun
If you keep getting burned
Step out, step out of the sun
Because you've learned, because you've learned

On the outside, always looking in
Will I ever be more than I've always been?
'Cause I'm tap, tap, tapping on the glass
Waving through a window
I try to speak, but nobody can hear
So I wait around for an answer to appear
While I'm watch, watch, watching people pass
Waving through a window, oh
Can anybody see, is anybody waving?

When you're falling in a forest and there's nobody around
Do you ever really crash, or even make a sound?
When you're falling in a forest and there's nobody around
Do you ever really crash, or even make a sound?
When you're falling in a forest and there's nobody around
Do you ever really crash, or even make a sound?
When you're falling in a forest and there's nobody around
Do you ever really crash, or even make a sound?
Did I even make a sound?
Did I even make a sound?
It's like I never made a sound
Will I ever make a sound?

On the outside, always looking in
Will I ever be more than I've always been?
'Cause I'm tap, tap, tapping on the glass
Waving through a window
I try to speak, but nobody can hear
So I wait around for an answer to appear
While I'm watch, watch, watching people pass
Waving through a window, oh
Can anybody see, is anybody waving back at me?

Is anybody waving?
Waving, waving..."

A small group of people had gathered, just mere bystandered. some clapped, before going on with their day. a few put some money in the hat. only a few people remained, waiting to see if she would sing again.

"She sung that well.." a voice complemented in a hushed tone. It seemed somewhat familiar, but she couldn't put a finger on it.

"I know Larua, not me good, but some talent.. yes" a voice agreed in a hushed tone. It was so familiar, yet she couldn't put her finger on it once more.

A car pulled up, Jacks car. Lillian barely made eye contact with the two people speaking, before hurrying into the car.

He quickly sped off, and the people dispersed. Lillian still ran the events over her mind as she laid back in the car.
