Arrogance

I forgot to mention, Piper and Jason were one one of the few people that stood up for us, so I trust them. Piper looked at us, her eyes shining with tears. I looked at Jason who looked shell-shocked. "Only two people look at each other like that. And they're dead."

"Yes, they are," I agreed. Annabeth was biting her lip, a gesture that signaled that she was trying not to cry. I winced as I remembered their expressions when they saw how we were tortured, then killed.

It looked like Piper was screaming, and breaking everything that got in her way. She had had tears pouring down her face, and she was calling for us to hold on, that she was going to get to us, to save us.

When Jason managed to break through the enchantments, he scooped up Piper, Frank turned into an eagle and scooped up Leo in one claw and Hazel in the other, and they had rushed to us, tears running down all their friends.

Even Nico was crying, and for a moment I saw the innocent 12 year old boy that was obsessed with mytho-magic.

But then my vision ended and the last thing I remembered was the ghostly look my friends wore and the way the rest of the camp looked, like they had woken up from a dream....

I couldn't tell them. Not now, not ever. "Sorry, but if you're talking about Percy and Annabeth, their dead. All I will tell you is that I was in the underworld, and they absolutely loathe everyone in this camp," I paused, letting that sink in.

"Everyone, except for you two, Hazel, Frank, Leo, Nico, Thalia, and Grover. " Piper broke down sobbing, and sat on the floor, her head buried in her knees, her hands hugging her stomach, as though she could hold herself together by force.

Jason sank on the floor next to her, looking as though he was trying to hold himself together, and physically holding himself, like Piper.

I myself was choking on tears, and judging by the way she held herself, so was Annabeth. I looked at them one more time, and ran out of the room, Annabeth hot on my heels. Once we were in the forest, I leaned against the tree. "Okay, so here's what we have to do...."

5 minutes later we were walking out of the forest, arrogant expressions on our faces. I walked with my head held high, shoulders broad, back straight, and a permanent smirk on my face.

Annabeth did the same. We talked loudly all the way there, and when we got there, we ignored everyone there, scowling at people who got in our way.

We acted like total jerks, in other words.

I mmed (mind messaged) the rest of our crew, told them to act opposite of how they did when they were on Earth.

Everyone immediately agreed, understanding why.

I walked arrogantly all the way to our cabin, and when I made it there, I threw off my hood, and laughed.

I liked being arrogant. It was fun, for one thing, and it took my mind off things.

The rest of my team was grinning, laughing, joking around, having fun. I looked, around at all my friends: Luke, Bianca, Calypso, Will, Zoe, Beckendorf, and Silena.

Luke, Calypso, and Zoe laughed as Bianca cracked a joke. Will was staring at Zoe, and laughed, embarrassed as he was caught red-handed. Meanwhile, Annabeth was sitting on my lap, cracking up at the joke I told her.

Everything was perfect.

Until Piper and Jason ran through the door.

We weren't wearing cloaks.

Oh oh.

Anyway, comment, vote, comment, comment, comment.
