"Kathleen, do you not think that we should try and be a little more friendly? We shall never be in the legacy of mother and aunt at this rate." Cherry had been scared to let her mother down and didn't like to think of 6 years like this.
"Chez, what happened to your spark? We shall be great."
"But..."
"No buts. Come on." She pushed past some girls and said, "I bet that you all have unmarried parents? Well, my mother is engaged, and she has the prettiest ring you could ever imagine."
"I bet it's laced with diamonds?" One girl smirked and the rest laughed.
"Actually, it is. It has exactly 5. I spent the holidays counting over and over again."
"Do shut up, Kath," Cherry whispered, embarrassed at her sister's boasting.
"You two are sickly. I don't know why you even had to come here," Milly, Amanda's daughter, said, sticking her tongue out cruelly. Cherry looked upset.
"But, Milly! You're my friend!"
"I was your friend. But I'm seeing how disgusting you are now."
"I'll do anything!"
"Alright then. Don't stick by her back. She is a filthy, dirty, stuck up, spoilt brat." Cherry looked between her friend and her sister. If she chose her sister, she would have no friends. If she chose her friends, she would never be able to be with her twin.
She gulped. "Yes," she said, weakly.
"Go with them then, weak little puppy. Go on! I shan't want anything more to do with you. I don't need a sister!" Kathleen stormed off.
"Come on, puppy," Milly grinned at the nickname. "Cute puppy."
