Once upon a charming summer
When the world was warm then getting warmer
And the feet of both young and willing
Danced to the voice of a proud mother's singing
Where her love for them poured over, seeping into the melody. And mighty proud she truly was
For it was a feat, that in itself
Her children, once dull, bone and sickly
Now grown and many, were raised up full in health
And dare to run from mother's dear kisses,
Yet now they rise to the task of leaving in due season
Not knowing how much for them was given
Oblivious to the pain in her heart as they departed
For they only saw the smile she was giving
Because to her only their happiness mattered.
