Walking down the dark street, with only the streetlights helping, I hurry home with my backpack. Remembering what had happened just a previous week ago, I begin to wish that I wasn't born with so much generosity. I ended up helping the teachers in my main classes out with grading papers, and somehow I was so into helping out that I worked way past light hours.
Going as fast as I could go while still walking, I internally pray that I won't be a target for a mugging or rape attempt. Last time, I got lucky with the help of Leonardo. This time, I might not get so lucky. I reach a corner to an intersection with stoplights. I waited patiently for my light so I could cross, but got a sudden feeling of being watched...
I take hold of my backpack straps in both hands and quickly observe my surroundings.
'Strange... There's nobody around except for the odd passer bys.'
Although I'm nervous of the feeling, I continue on with my half-way completed walk. Even after I clear the next block, I still feel the feeling of being watched very intently. But... Strangely I have enough feeling that it's not coming from the ground, but instead from the rooftops. I don't show it, but I have a rough idea who it is and it relieves me.
Around the corner from my apartment, I duck into an alley shortcut that's directly across the street from my apartment complex. The convenient ladder in the alley, leading to the rooftop right above me, helps me reach the top. Gracefully, hopping past the last three rungs, I turn to the shadows.
"You know... That could be considered stalking."
A few chuckles and smothered giggles erupt from the shadowed area I stare at. Leonardo steps out with a blushing face.
"Uh... sorry... That w-wasn't my intention. I just saw you walking home and wanted you to get there safely Considering last time, I-I just wanted-"
Cutting him off by holding up my hand, I speak in a light tone, "*laughing softly* It's okay. I was just poking fun. Would you be a gentleman and introduce me to the others?"
My eyes find the shadows again as Leonardo's eyes widen in shock. Three other turtles emerge from their hidden spots. They were the same- or approximately -the same height as Leonardo, but wore different colored ninja masks, different weapons, different toned green skin, eyes, and stances. Leo goes by each one one to introduce them.
"Uh the one in orange is Michaelangelo. Call him Mikey. Mikey, this is (Y/N). The one in red is Raphael, or Raph. Raph, (Y/N). And finally, the one in purple is Donatello. For short Donnie or Don. Don, this is (Y/N)."
We all give each other small, friendly greeting gestures. Then Donnie speaks.
"It's lovely to meet you, (Y/N). Thank you for uh quietly accepting us. Any friend of Leo's is a friend of ours."
"No problem. And though it was a pleasure meeting all of you, and seeing you again Leonardo, I really have to get back to my house. Thank you for escorting me."
Leonardo speaks up. "I'll walk you home anytime. I want to make sure you're safe. For now, let's just get you home tonight."
"Leonardo~ You don't have to do that anymore."
"But-"
"Leonardo, you've already gotten me home safely." I point to my apartment across the street. His face turns pink.
"O-Oh... uh... I knew that."
I laugh and make my way to the ladder. But before I could start climbing down, toned arms wrap around my waist. I'm pulled into bridal style. In surprise, I look up and see Leonardo's face; It was a darker pink than before.
He starts running and leaps. When he finally puts me down, I'm at my bedroom window. Before he disappears, he smiles and says goodnight.
