Mason Maine

The alarm clock rings waking me up from a dreadful dream about a cockroach eating me. I take a nice hot shower, dress, and head downstairs to eat breakfast. "Good morning loser." Mel says eating a bowl of cereal in the living room.

"You're not supposed to eat there." I remind her grabbing myself a bowl filling it with cereal. I sit right next to her on the couch. If my mother found out about this, we'd be murdered.

"Don't be such a baby." She responds not caring the least. "It's going to be cold today; mom left you a note of the fridge to wear a sweater." She laughs. My mother and father go to work really early so we don't see them until after school.

"I'm not going to wear it." I state, my mother isn't here to make me wear it. I'm not a baby anymore, jeeze.

"I'm telling," She threatens eating another spoon full of Fruit Loops. I sigh in defeat.

"Why do you have to be so mean?" I question irritated.

"Because I'm your sister," She says changing the channel to something else.

"So?"

"I'll stop when I fell like you're finally growing up." She stands messing up my hair. "You're far from growing up, kiddo." I sigh finishing up my cereal and rinsing it on the sink. I head back upstairs grabbing my sweater and heading outside to wait for the stinky bus. I still wish I had a bus buddy. The morning was cold; thank goodness I brought my sweater. I notice Jamie crossing the street heading towards me. For a second I forgot why she was coming over until I realized she rode the bus too.

"Good morning," I greet her kindly seeing she wasn't wearing a sweater. Was she crazy? It's freaking cold outside and she doesn't have a sweater. Maybe she's not cold. I'd be freezing if I were her, especially because I took a shower this morning.

"Morning," Jamie greets me back shivering, looking at my sweater as if it were gold. So she is cold. Silly girl, she probably woke up late and forgot to grab a sweater.

"You look cold." I point out laughing as I unzipped my sweater. I thank my sister for making me take a sweater. "Isn't it a good thing I told you I would bring my sweater for you?"

"You'll be cold too," She shivers not taking it, what a stubborn girl. I roll my eyes moving towards her, wrapping my sweater around her. She smells good, like strawberries. Mmm...I love strawberries. I notice she was looking at me so I look down at her. I melt into her honey brown eyes. My body inches forward without me thinking about it. Jamie really is beautiful.

"Jamie get in the freaken bus before I throw you in!" The oldest brother threatens, giving me a death glare. I step away from her instantly, seeing the two twins there too.

"Have a great day." One of them says with a huge grin on his face.

"Bye, Jamie-Bear, have fun today!" The other one yells while pulling Josh back inside the house, but he didn't budge. The bus honks and I get on quickly. Jamie follows me about to sit somewhere else; I pull her so she can sit with me instead.
