Escaping your past is never easy. Secrets never stay hidden. I learned this the hard way. I went out for what seemed to be a harmless night out, until one fatal mistake changed my entire life. One second. It took one second for my life to change completely. So fast, I had to leave my hometown to escape the consequences. I wouldn't have been able to deal with the stares, or the whispering, or hate that I was sure to receive for what I had done. My parents and brother are the only ones who supported me through the pain. I went from being the most popular and loved girl in school, to the most hated and avoided girl in school. All the friends that I thought I had no longer loved me. But I can't blame them, what I did was horrible, and I never want to hear about it again. If I had just not-----

"HEY! Madison! We're pulling into Northview!"

I jerked up from my daze to find my brother, Noah, looking at me in the backseat of our car. Noah was a year older than me, and treated me like a child half the time. However, when we are on the same page, he is actually kinda cool. He looked at me disapprovingly, knowing what I was thinking about. He shook his head at me.

"Madison, the only way you are going to be able to move on is if you forget about the past." He whispered.

"I know, Noah. I'm not stupid."

He narrowed his eyes, ignoring my comment. "Well then, to take your mind of things, take a look at our new home."

I looked outside the window to see a small café. A sign hung above the door, saying "Lava Java". Walking out of the café was a boy, probably about my age. He was decent height, slender, and had bleach blonde hair that shined in the sun. He looked happy, something I wish I was, walking with his coffee in his hand and his book bag on his back.

"Madison! You can do your homework at that café, like back in Greenville! Maybe that's where the cool kids hangout!" My father exclaimed.

"Yeah, OK Dad." I said, rolling my eyes. That was sarcasm.

"Richard, don't pester her! That must be your school guys!" My mom yelled as we stopped at the light.

Me and Noah both turned our heads at the same time looking to see our new school.

"More like prison..." Noah whispered under his breath.

This time, when I look outside the window, I see a group of three boys walking towards the football field. They were jumping around and messing with each other, showing they must have been friends for a while. I was too busy staring at them to notice that one had turned around and made eye contact with me. He was tall, had an athletic build, and had piercing brown eyes. He smirked at me, and as we drove away, he winked.

"As if..." I muttered.

Next, we started to pass the school soccer fields, where I saw two girls who wore soccer uniforms. They were walking and talking their way across the field, one with light brown hair, the other dirty blonde. I was busy looking at their hair when two more girls walked straight in front of them. These "new" girls walked with extreme attitude and gave off a demanding aura. The soccer girls rolled their eyes at whatever they had to say, and they walked away.

"I certainly don't want to run into those girls." I said to Noah.

"Why not? They're super hot!" Noah exclaimed.
