"Little secrets grow up to be big lies."

I dropped the letter onto the ground out of pure shock. I thought to myself:

What. the. Hell.

The whole reason I moved to Northview was to escape my mistakes without anyone knowing what I did. But its clear now: someone does know. I started panicking and I realized this "Red" could still actually be in my house. I ran upstairs to my room to check if anything was stolen.

Then I heard something at my front door.

I ran downstairs and threw my front door open and there stood a happy, but confused, Lauren.

"Hey Madison!" She said cheerfully. "Why were you running so fast?"

"Um... the mail! Yeah, I had to get the mail! I'm expecting something I bought online."

Her look questioned me. "Ok! Well, anyway, I was stopping by to ask you if you wanted to come with me to Lava Java? It's this really cool café that everyone in town goes to!" She happily exclaimed.

I was still flustered from the note. If I went with Lauren, it would take the note off my mind. But, on the other hand, I might miss my chance to figure out who wrote this note.

"Wait a minute. How do you know where I live? Let me guess..."

"Travis." We both said at the same time and then laughed.

"Ok, I guess it wouldn't hurt to get a coffee to wake me up after this boring day. Just let me get my stuff." I said.

I walked back inside and picked the note up off the ground and stared at it.

If this day was something, it would be anything BUT boring.

"Welcome to Lava Java!" Lauren exclaimed.

I looked around the café. It was interesting and cute. Paintings hung around the café, bookshelves lined the walls, and customers sat at different colored tables, drinking different coffees and teas. On the right side was a spiral staircase that led up to more tables.

"Come on! Let's go get something to drink!" Lauren pulled me over to the counter, where a familiar person stood behind it.

"Welcome to Lava Java, what can I get for--- oh! Hey, it's Lauren and Madison!" Travis looked up at us.

"Hey Travis, how's business today?" Lauren questioned.

"Busy, but what else is new. The "queen bee" and her best friend came in today. In fact, they are right over there." Travis pointed.

I turned to find two girls who looked almost... perfect. If you could picture two mean girls in a stereotypical movie, those two girls would be perfect for it. They dressed in expensive clothes and carried Michael Khors bags on their shoulders.

"Queen bee?" I questioned cause I wanted to learn more about these two girls.

"Brittany Taylor and Courtney Bennett." Travis explained. "The two most popular girls in school. They will ruin anyone's day if you mess with them. One time, Brittany forced me to make her win the Winter Formal Queen at our dance, or she would "sue me." They are your typical mean girls who are never nice and "get around" if you know what I mean."
