Chapter 16: My Best Friend's Brother

"L-Lauren?" Those were the only I could make out. 

I had just walked in on my brother making out with my best friend. 

"Madison!" Lauren exclaimed, jumping up. 

"What the hell, can't you knock?!" Noah yelled.

"What the hell is this?!" 

"Madison! I can explain!" Lauren said with regret, while walking towards me.

I looked her at her. Staring back at me were a pair of hurt eyes matched by my icy gaze.

"Get out." I said. 

"Madison, you don't mean that. We... we are best friends!" She said, visibly upset.

"My best friend wouldn't do this to me." I said back harshly. 

Lauren looked as shocked as ever, and honestly, I was glad she was. What the hell was she thinking?! Noah is my brother! 

As Lauren walked shamefully over to her bag, Noah opened his mouth.

"Look Madison I-"

"Shut the hell up, Noah. I don't want to hear your excuses." I said, turning around and slamming the door. 

I made my way into my room, locked my door, and threw myself onto my bed, partially because of my anger and just how tired I was. I was in my room for about 10 seconds before someone knocked on my door.

"If you are Noah or Lauren, go the hell away!" I said, getting up and opening the door. It was neither Noah, nor Lauren, but Declan.

"I think I'm not your brother or Lauren." He said, laughing. 

"Finally, a sane person. Hurry, get in before Ashley tries to join the party!" I whispered.

"You won't have to worry about her, she is sleeping at Courtney's." 

"Even better." I said, guiding him into my room, where he flopped onto the bed. 

"What an eventful night. You know for our first dance at this school, I must say it exceeded my expectations." Declan joked.

"Tell me about it." 

"So... why didn't you want Noah or Lauren coming in here?"

"Because they are both conceited liars. Noah was making out with her behind my back, for who knows how long. This couldn't have been the first night."  I said.

"Yikes. Look like Noah broke the sibling code. You know? It's like a rule that you do NOT make out your siblings best friend." Declan said.

"In other news, Ethan kissed me, and that was the one kiss of the night that actually made me happy." I smiled, thinking about the way the kiss with Ethan felt.

"Damn, Ethan finally had the guts to kiss you. Props to him." Declan chuckled.

"Please, Declan. I'm sure you probably were kissing a girl tonight too." 

"I guess you can say that." Declan shrugged, smirking. 

I grabbed my remote and turned my TV on.

"In other news, local student Tyler Bailey, has been reported missing. Sources say that during Northview High School's homecoming dance, the power had gone out, leaving the school in total darkness for a short amount of time. However, when the lights returned, Bailey was no where to be found. Shortly after, police discovered the student's jacket, along with a mysterious piece of paper that read "M.A." near the forest. An investigation is ongoing. If you have any information, please contact the Northview Police Department."
