I really am only doing this because I'm bored. But that does not change the fact that these are serious( no there not ) problems
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Problem one: triforce misconceptions.
In other words, most people seem to forget what the triforce actually does.
All the time I see people say that Zelda gets her magic from the triforce, I mean it even shows the triforce on the back of her hand as she gets her sealing powers in BREATH OF THE WILD, but Zelda gets her magic from being the reincarnation of the goddess Hylia. It says so in skyward sword, yet people still associate her magic with the triforce. Her triforce of wisdom gives her the power to get glimpses of possible futures that could occur in the specific time line she is in. Now onto Gannon, his Piece of the Triforce is the triforce of power; what his triforce piece grants him is his magical abilities, such as keeping back navi in OoT. Honestly this makes sense, because what is more powerful than magic. Links triforce of courage is never really explained and he doesn't always have it. However in Twilight Princess Link's triforce allows him to become a tangible beast instead of a intangible ghost like everyone else. Other than that his piece is never that important again. My reason for saying all this is because everyone mixes these things up, they think that Zelda's magic comes from her piece and that Gannon's piece turns him into a beast. Most people just think up something for Link's piece to do. While that is all good and dandy for a AU story, it is not part of the main truth of The Legend of Zelda. So if you plan to write a good story that is true to the plot of The Legend of Zelda game you are writing about then do your research.Problem 2: personality of the characters
I guarantee that most people assume that Link is a noble hearted hero only out for the good of Hyrule kingdom and Zelda herself, that Gannon is just a cold hearted beast out to destroy Hyrule and all the people within, or maybe that Zelda is a sweet kind hearted princess that has no idea how to defend herself. If you assume these things then you are wrong. Let's start with link shall we, most people know that Link is the hero of Hyrule and saves princess Zelda, and most people know about Dark Link, a evil apparition only created to serve his master and to attempt to kill Link. But Dark Link is almost always created by the evil in Link's heart and he always is against Hyrule. So this must mean that deep down Link has a deep seated hatred for Hyrule and maybe for Zelda herself, and somehow Link is the hero of this story. Now let's break down Gannon or more specifically the man; Gannondorf himself. The Gannondorfs' from OoT, WW, and TP are all the same guy, not a reincarnation or a ghost, but actually the same person. In WW we learn that Gannondorf is attempting to take over Hyrule because he is angry that his tribe has been banished from the plains of mainland Hyrule to the desert and he just wants a place for his tribe to live in piece. To the Gerudo he is an inspiration and a hope for a good future. Finally lets tackle Zelda. Everyone seems to put her on a high podium, she cannot be messed with because her personality is this and it will never be changed. Zelda is pretty useless, no offense but during TP she did nothing but die then get taken over and get beat by Link, and in WW Tetra is constantly in your way, first making you lose your sword, next getting captured. But SS Zelda is the most useless, she literally gets kidnapped, makes you end up confronting Girahim multiple times, and eventually once more getting kidnapped.Problem 3: how the characters interact with each other
In almost every Zelink fanfiction Zelda and Link are either best friends at the start or they deeply respect the other. However if you are writing a Zelink fanfiction for TP then you need to explain how the characters got close, because in TP they really only met at terrible times and did not get to know one another. Another problem is that in some Fanfics the characters remember their past lives which should not be a thing. In TP Gannondorf might be able to recognize TP Link as OoT Link because OoT Gannondorf is the same person as TP Gannondorf but Link should not be able to remember that he once stabbed Gannon in the head in another life.LAST PROBLEM: the game you choose
So many times I have seen Girahim pop up in a TP story or Majora and Gannon being best buds. If you choose a game then you need to abide by it's rules such as not letting Wolf Link be in SS or Midna and FI drinking a cold one on the beach. I read a amazing story once on Fanfiction.net that was set after TP yet both Zelda and Linkhad heard of the events of OoT and them being in the child timeline there should be no recorded history of the events of OoT because in the child timeline Link never went forward those seven years. Gannon should not be a threat because no one but Gannondorf would know about his uncanny ability to turn into a glorified pig. And so on.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I really didn't think I would have that much to say but I guess I was more bored than I though
Anyways goodbye for now anyone who might read this
