My mind is fuzzy, the last remnants of my dream being chased away by the realization that I am awake again. It was a nice dream, something about sitting in a big oak tree in meadow full of flowers but the details are fading fast even as I try to recall them.

With a mental sigh I allow my brain to focus and cautiously open one eye. The bright spring sunlight cuts the room in half and I see dust-motes dancing in the wall of light. I pull the duvet up over my head to keep it out. It's not going to work; my brain is awake now however I decided to stay in bed.

Eventually, I got changed and went to the living room. To my surprise, there was mysterious man sitting on the couch. All of a sudden, I felt someone tap me on the shoulders. I screamed my head off as it was unexpected and that caused the man sitting on the couch to look at me.

"Why did you scream?" Kevin asked.

"Because you scared me. You should be sorry, idiot." I replied.

"Fine. I'm sorry." Kevin said.

The man stood up from the couch and asked Kevin, "Are you forgetting to introduce me?"

"Oh. I'm sorry. Olivia this is Kenneth Tan and I have hired him to be our private investigator. I have also explained to him what is to be done. " Kevin introduced.

" Good morning Ms. Grant." He said signaling a handshake.

"That's too formal. Call me Olivia instead. Our age difference isn't that much." I chuckled.

"Alright Olivia. Well, I have to go now." Kenneth bid his goodbye and left.

"Are you sure Kenneth is just a investigator? He seems too cute to be an investigator. He looks more like a model to me." I said to Kevin after Kenneth left.

"Your such a flirt Olivia." He rolled his eyes.

"Why are you so irritated? I'm just stating a fact." I asked.

"I'm not irritated. I'm also just stating a fact." He said coldly.

"Your such an idiot. Can you not ruin my morning?" I said, walking off. I slammed the door loudly to signal to him that I was exasperated.

"Olivia, open the door." He demanded.

After opening the door, I yelled, "What do you want?"

"Nothing." He replied.

"Nice answer." I responded.

"Its just that I'm not feeling well." He said looking away.

"Oh. I'm sorry for yelling at you." I apologized.

"I'm planning to go to the clinic nearby." He said.

I just nodded my head and he left. I went to the living room turned on the television and switched on my computer. Then I opened my twitter account, many people had been mentioning me in their tweet saying:

"Pray for Olivia @heyitslia"

All of a sudden I heard some grumbling. Panic started to engulf me as I thought that someone else had gotten into the house. Just then I realized that it was just my stomach. I had not eaten breakfast yet.

I went to the kitchen and cooked spaghetti. When the food was cooked, I served them on a plate and decided to wait for Kevin. An elegant plate of spaghetti was right in front of me, the aroma made my mouth water. With generous scoops of thick sauce, juicy meatballs all under a bed of warm noodles. As I was hungry, I did not manage to stop myself and indulge on the food.

All of a sudden, Kevin walked in with a rather familiar lady. The lady was wearing a sundress. Its light skirt flowed out above her knees showing of her toned legs. Her hair was the color of raspberries. Her shoes were slightly heeled and extremely thin. Her bracelets matched her ivory skin perfectly.

"Olivia, this is my mom. I think you have met her a few times in high school." He introduced.

"Hi Aunty Susan. It's been a long time since I last saw you and you still look as young and beautiful as you used to be." I complimented. No wonder she looked familiar to me.

"Thank you my dear Olivia. You have grown into a really beautiful lady. If I only knew you lived nearby, I would have invited you to my wedding. I can't believe that after a long time my son and you are finally dating." She said.

I was confused by what she had said. I gave Kevin a death glare and he elbowed me as if signaling me to play along.

"I myself can't believe it too." I replied.

"So when's the wedding?" Aunty Susan joked. "Anyways I'll get going. I was just checking on Kevin and since his girlfriend is here I can be sure that he'll be safe." With that, she left.

I turned to Kevin and was ready to yell at him and I guessed he knew what I was planning to do as he immediately said, " I can explain."

"Your explanation better be valid." I stared angrily.

"Okay. I was on my way to the clinic when I saw my mother. She asked where I was going and I told her I was on my way to get a check up and she accompanied me. Then as she was following me back to my apartment. I remembered that you were living in with in. I knew I couldn't tell her about what had happened so I panicked and the first thing that came to my mind is to lie and say that you were my girlfriend. So I told her that and to my surprise, she was rather happy for me and was excited to meet you." He explained.

"Alright. It's valid enough. Anyways have you eaten? I have prepared spaghetti for you." I said while pointing at the plate of spaghetti on the table.

As he walked up to the table, he muttered," For now it's a lie, but in the near future it will be reality."

Then I whispered back, "In your dreams, idiot."

He was startled at my reply and to avoid the awkwardness, he pretended as though he did not hear anything.

After he ate, he took his medicine and went to his bedroom to get some rest. I was alone again. Due to boredom, I re-opened my twitter and something caught my attention.

"@belgrantx: rip to my dear stepsister. Love and miss you lots."

My stepsister is really a great drama queen. I wanted to reply but I remembered I couldn't, so I decided switch off the computer and just stared into blank space.

Kevin suddenly walked up to me and questioned, "You seem to be deep in thought. Need anyone to talk to?"

"Aren't you supposed to be asleep?" I asked, obviously startled."Yeah but I wanted to drink water so I got up and headed to the kitchen when I saw you staring in the blank space." He said. "Do you need a listening ear?"

"Well sort of. It's just that I saw my sisters tweet and they have assumed I was dead. It's only been 7 days and they have given up searching for me. I know I shouldn't be expecting anything from them but I sort of did. Because I thought that even at least one of my relatives cared for me even if it's just slightly. But then again they didn't. I shouldn't have expected." Tears welled up in my eyes and began rolling down my cheeks like rivulets.

He then gave me a comforting hug that made me felt so much better. I whispered, "thank you."

Since he still didn't feel better, I accompanied him inside his room so that I could help him fall asleep. He switched on the television in his room and we watched a random television show.

All of sudden, I stared at Kevin and asked, " Don't you ever feel tired of listening to me rant and cry over the same things?"

He held my hand and responded," Remember this Olivia. I will never ever get tired of your endless drama. You're my best friend and whatever you're going through, I will go through it with you. Remember how you would always been there, helping me with my studies because my parents couldn't afford to get a tuition teacher? And because of you, I managed to get good grades. Remember how you would never give up on me even I keep getting the same things wrong? Right now it's my turn. I will take good care of you no matter what it takes. I swore on your mothers grave so if you don't keep my promise your mom might haunt me."

We laughed at what he had said. And I responded," I'm lucky to have a best-friend like you."

"I'm the lucky one." He responded.
