Jinora was sitting at the master's table for lunch. Of course, she was the youngest there, and she wasn't allowed to sit with her best friend.

Kai was laughing with Meelo as her brother started juggling dumplings. His dark, tan skin reflected in the sun. His emerald green eyes glistened and his wild hair was blowing around.

Suddenly they made eye contact, for a second, then both of them turned away, blushing.

She had liked him ever since they first met, but they were never more than friends. Sometimes it seemed like he was flirting with her, but she couldn't tell. It was frustrating sometimes.

Her aunt, Kya was sitting next to her and noticed her looking down.

"What's wrong, sweetie?" The waterbender asked. Jinora jumped a little, surprised.

"Oh! Nothing Aunt Kya."

"Is it about that boy, Kai?"

Jinora looked up at her aunt astonished.

"H-how did you know?!"

"My dear, it is so obvious."

"Really...?"

"Yes! You clearly like him and he obviously likes you."

Jinora looked back at Kai. "Wait, he does?"

Kya almost laughed. "Of course he does. He probably can't stop thinking about you."

"Auntie!"

"What! It's true." She said smirking.

Jinora chuckled. Maybe she was right. They spent a lot of time together, but they were best friends so that was implied.

A sudden rumble of the ground broke her out of her thoughts. Many gasps came from the airbenders as the rumbles continued. Someone yelled, "Rogue earthbenders are attacking!"

All the airbenders got up at once, forming ranks and going down the side of the mountain. Jinora slid easily to the bottom, knocking some rogues off on her way down. There were many people fighting, her people defending their mountain.

Suddenly, a large boulder came soaring past her, nearly hitting her head. She swiftly turned to face a man in ragged clothes in fighting stance. He created another boulder and sent it her way. With one slice of the hand, she broke the rock into tiny bits but was greeted by more and more. She dodged and swerved, and created a wave of air, and sent the man flying backward.

He regained his balance and sent shards of sharp rock toward her. She tried to hit all of them, but one caught her on her upper arm and wrist, and also on her leg. She stepped back in pain, but sent balls of wind flying toward the man, almost sending him off the cliff.

She felt a thud on her back and she fell forward. A girl was attacking her from behind! She regained her stance and kicked a wave of air towards her knocking the girl off the mountain too.

But suddenly she felt a blow to her head and she blacked out.
