Chapter 2

Annabeth's P.O.V

When I wake up, I expect to be well rested.

Not to be an experimental mutant that can control things with her mind.

I'm a freaking experiment.

I can throw things with my mind.

Which I did to the 'doctors' who are working on me.

I sit on my bed, taking deep breaths to calm myself.

I slowly look around the room.

Okay, there's the logo, which is a dead octopus apparently, and a table with needles.

On the plus side of this, I'm better!

I can walk and move again.

I grab a needle and brace myself for an attack.

I do a sweep around the room.

1 door, glass (defiantly a fake mirror) adorns one wall. I wave at the people behind it.

1 tray full of needles and a bed.

This is boring.

Okay, so, I could use the tray as a shield, possibly the bed. The needles are like knives, so they would be good to use as well as anything else in the barren room.

Why did he have to deem me guilty?

I give one last look around the dark, dank (IT MEANS UNPLEASANTLY DAMP AND COLD) 'hospital' and sigh.

I could do better than this with out Leo.

Leo.

I didn't get to go to his funeral, tell Sally that Percy died, recount what happened to Dad!

I brush my tears aside and look up.

"Hello, Annabeth." A man says, smiling at me in the door way.

Do not fight him, think.

"Hello, sir." I say with strained politeness.

"Now, I'm going to ask you a few questions. Please answer them correctly."

"Of course."

"Why don't you have half of your DNA?"

"What do you mean?" I ask, incredulously.

"So you don't know. You have 23 chromosomes, which means that you should not be alive."

"How does that even work?" I ask curiously, "By all means, I shouldn't have even been born"

"I know. Your a miracle, I guess. Next question. Have you used your powers?"

"I guess I have, I threw a pen at one of the doctors." I say. "With my mind."

"Okay." He jots down something. "How would you feel to help us take down a terrorist organisation called SHEILD?"

I think for a moment.

"Uh, can I not? I want to master my powers before fighting terrorists." I stall.

"We can train you. Why were you lying in the alley way, all broken up?"

"Attempted suicided." I say, looking down.

He walks over to me, giving me a reassuring smile.

"Don't worry, we can help out." He says. "Everything gets better, I promise."

"What if it doesn't?" I ask.

"We'll help you out then." He says.

"What if you can't?"

"Then your teammate will. His name is Winter."

"Winter." I mumble. Winter. Hydra.

The Winter Solider.

Working for the terrorist organisation called HYDRA.

Keep calm. They train you, you betray them and GTFO.

"Okay." I say, selling my soul over to them.

It can't get any worse, right?
