hyojong was wearing makeup again, this time his eyeliner a shimmering black and eyelids grey— hwitaek was too scared to ask but it seemed like a smokey eye. was that the correct term? hwitaek wanted to desperately find out. hyojong's thin lips were bright red, silky under the lights and hwitaek had the strong urge to reach out and mess it up; take his thumb and spread the lipstick all across his cheeks and chin. it was a scary— hwitaek thought he'd ever think such things. want such things.
he tried his best to ignore the blond but the customers didn't help. especially now with a mother and her daughter walking around; the little girl more like running and touching anything she could. and of course she found hyojong; droopy lips and moon crescent eyes playing around with fruit snack boxes on the floor. staring from his spot at the counter, hwitaek felt like watching a horror movie unfold as the little girl (no older than 6) reached out and touched hyojong's hair.
it was cute, adorable, hwitaek's heart skipped a beat. hyojong only smiled up at the girl, saying nothing as she twirled his hair in her small hands and giggled. hyojong giggled back— hwitaek squeaked quietly. she said something, pointing at hyojong's lips and hyojong said something back, still smiling. the girl giggled again, then suddenly leaned down and plopped a wet kiss to hyojong's forehead, pulling back fast and embarrassed as she laughed again.
hwitaek always wanted kids...
the two of them stay like that for a bit, talking and laughing; the girl absolutely smitten until the mother finally noticed her daughter was gone and went around searching calmly. she spotted the baby poking at hyojong's cheek and looked relieved yet put off. she ran to her daughter, an apology on her tongue as she picked the baby up and smiled at hyojong. the blond waved his hand as to say no problem and then the mom is walking toward the counter, baby on her hip whining.
"mommy! i want to talk to the flower boy more!" the girl pouted, angrily trying to push away from her mother who nervously laughed as her and hwitaek made eye contact.
"would you like a lollipop?" hwitaek asked the girl, smiling as sweetly as he could while grabbing a candy from the jar they have. he could faintly feel wooseok's and jinho's eyes on him.
the girl stopped crying and stared at hwitaek, face eerily blank as she leaned over and took the lollipop. her mother smiled, visibly thankful, but before she could say anything her daughter was pointing at hwitaek.
"the flower boy said he wants your lollipop too."
and oh how the mother did not like hearing that. a face of horror as she waited for him to scan her items and let her pay, staring at her baby with mixed emotions. hwitaek thought the best thing to do was to not say anything at all, opting on letting his blush speak for itself. he was going to kill hyojong, wack him with the broom, or maybe wipe that makeup off of him for his own enjoyment.
the mother hurried out, giving hyojong an offended glance before pulling her daughter closer to her side. hwitaek sighed after they left, and ignored wooseok and jinho probably commenting on what had just happened.
he walked up to hyojong, not wanting to crouch beside him so he stood looking down. "you said that to a little girl."
