It was strange, yet normal at the same time to her. They would text during classes, meet up at one of their houses or at the park they visited the night they found out, and then text all throughout the night. When they saw each other at school, they would turn the other cheek. It was strange in the sense that she knew almost everything about him, yet didn't at the same time. It was strange that he promised to protect her, yet he never did.
He was a liar... Like everyone else in her life. It was strange that she promised to allow him in, yet when she was with him, her guard was up. It was a game of tag or chasing the clouds. It was strange. He made a promise he could never keep.
To him, it was depressing. Letting the girl he loved slip through his fingers once more. He wanted to talk to her, but he didn't want to cause her more pain either. He thought that if he spoke to her, the bullies would hurt her even more behind his back. Kevin knew their tricks and what they were capable of, that's why he didn't want to interact.
'It's all her fault. I'm doing this for you, Jeong. For you. I know I promised you, but it's for the best,' he thought, as he wrapped an arm around the girl who hurt the one he loved most.
Little did he know, that's what hurt her most. She always sat alone. Nothing felt different. She wished that she could give him more, but she couldn't give him what she didn't have. Not in this life at least. She was shocked to see Kevin with her. It hurt so much. It was a pain that she had never felt since her parents died, but she ignored it and smiled as he called her.
Tonight was going to be their movie night. The night that Aria looked forward to every week. They would watch movies and talk about random topics. Towards the end of the night, they would tell each other their deepest darkest secrets and none of them were allowed to judge each other.
Aria sat in her living room cuddled up in her Totoro onesie waiting for a text from her best friend, telling her that he was on his way to her house. She set up Spirited Away, her all time favorite film. It was cute and in a way, it reminded her of herself. She fell for him, and he fell for her, but in the end they parted ways. He promised to come back, and he did, but at the same time he didn't. Aria noticed he was slowly becoming more and more distant with her lately. He was blowing her off for her, or he told her that he only liked her as a sister. It was a lie. Another lie, another broken promise. As she was lost in thought, thinking about the night Kevin came back and promised to be her savior, she was surprised to hear an alert from her phone.
Kev:
Hey Ria! I have to rain check for movie night tonight. Zoe wants to go out and spend time with me. I'll hang with you tomorrow. Meet me at the park tomorrow at nine.
Aria sighed. She went up to her room and walked into her closet, pushing aside the dresses that were hanging to find a door behind them. She walked through the door and into a studio filled with musical instuments. Aria was a musical prodigy. She could play violin, piano, guitar, bass, cello, and more. She turned on a loop pedal and her mic. Aria reached for a headset and grabbed her guitar, and began to play Save Your Heart by MayDay Parade. By then end of her song, she was in tears and it hit her like a bus. Her heart began racing, her tears became more prominent, and she was scratching her wrist.
'It was all a lie. He never loved me and never will. He has a girl. He was using me to get to my grandparents, that's all. I'm alone... alone.
It was rare to find Aria crying. She always acted so happy and tough, but inside she was broken. The slightest things triggered her. As the broken girl got up, she ran to her bed and cried herself to sleep. Thinking about him.
