Am I dead? Sera thought. Her body felt all warm over and her eyes were squeezed shut. It wasn't painful, she couldn't feel the feeling of teeth ripping into her flesh or feel her body being torn apart. All she felt was warmth. It surrounded her entire being, like a mother holding her baby for the very first time. This feeling soothed her. Everything she had been feeling before had washed away leaving only peace and calming feelings. Whispers filled her every thought. A soft and soothing voice spoke to her.
Slowly Sera opened her eyes. Light surrounded her and the faint image of this, this beautiful woman appeared in front of her. The woman's face was faded out and Sera couldn't make out the features of her face. Sera stared at the strange, giant woman in awe. A small heavenly chuckle left the woman's full red lips. "Hello my little Angel. I'm glad I can finally speak to you," she said in a soft and calming voice. It reminded Sera of her mother. In fact everything about the woman, from her motherly aura to her sound of her voice, remind Sera of her mother. Even her appearance seemed familiar. "It took a long time for you to hear my voice. I am sadden by the fact that we have to meet like this my Angel. The Portals are starting to open once again, just like all those years ago. I had hope I would never have to use your powers again, but I have no choice."
Sera stared at the woman confused. W-what was she talking about? Portals? Angel? I've met this woman before? More and more thoughts started to fill Sera's head and once again the woman let out a chuckle that sounded like little bells. Suddenly Sera was pulled into a tight hug. She wanted to pull away but, the warmth that the woman gave off started to consume her. Sera's eyes grew heavy along wit her body. The woman's hand stroked Sera's hair as she started to sing softly. This song.....Sera knew this song. But from where? Slowly her eyes closed and all she could hear was that sad, sad song the woman sang. Sera's body curled up into a ball as her body started to feel heated.
Sweat poured from her body and she started to pant. The song grew louder and louder inside her mind. Her eyes went tight and her hand covered her ears. Stop! Make it stop! I don't want to hear it any longer! I don't want to remember! Wait....remember? Remember what? Flashing images of the dream consumed Sera's mind. The battle, the monsters, that gate, the sound of metal clashing and the faint sounds of someone begging for everything to stop, and the image of beautiful wings that were stained crimson.
Sera's eyes shot wide open and suddenly a strange burst of energy left her body. Panting heavily she slowly started to realize that the woman was gone, the singing had stopped as well. The warmth that once surrounded Sera's body and left her and she was now back in reality. Or...was this still the dream? The monsters were still there terrorizing people, killing people. But the scene was different. There were a few of the monsters who were pushed back or even dead. H-how did that happen?
Something felt off. Sera felt different from before, she felt stronger. Finally, after fully snapping out of her trance she realized her feet weren't touching the ground. Behind her she could hear flapping. Sera's eyes glanced behind her before they widened. Wings....she had wings. This had to be a dream. None of this couldn't be real!
The demons that had fallen just moments ago, started to get up from their fallen positions. Shaking their horse-shaped heads they turned their attention to Sera and snarled. Sera's face paled and fear overwhelmed her body once again. They're going to eat me! The demons are going to hurt me! Wait.....demons? Is that what they're called? Just moments ago Sera was calling them monsters but now, now she was calling them demons. How...how does she know this?
Sera didn't have much time to think about finding the answers to her questions, because at that moment the demon closest to her lunged. It raised its long arm high above over its head, claws out, as it swung its arm down towards Sera. Quickly, Sera crouched down in fear and raised her arms to protect her face. Once again she waited for something to happen. But nothing happened. Though, unlike last time there was no warmth engulfing her body, the only warmth was coming from her hands. In fact, it felt as if her hands were on fire. Opening her eyes, they widened at how close the demon was from her face.
Her fear turned into confusion when the demon just stood there looming over her crouched body. Slowly, the beast's body turned to the color of stone and then crumbled to dust at her feet. Going back to her feet Sera stared down at the pile of ashes in shock. W-what? Her eyes then looked at her hands. A golden hue outlined her small hands. Did she do that? Slowly the hue faded and so did the warmth from her hands.
Opening and closing her fists over and over again Sera felt the sense of familiarity. It was if her body knew what it was doing but her mind did not. Her mind was in a state of confusion but her body started taking action. Her lips started to chant words she's never even heard of, her hands swayed around and her feet did things on their own. Once again heat started to swell up inside her, coming from the bottom of her feet all the way to the top of her head. She felt strong and unafraid.
Pressing her hands together she felt the warmth flow through her body and towards her hands again. She felt something being formed from her heated hands and slowly she pulled her hands apart. Liquid splashed in mid-air between her hands. A strange color of grey Sera has never seen before. Her arms kept extending until they reached the point where she could extend her arms anymore. The liquid's splashing slowed and slowly it started to turn solid. Now a spear floated in front of her, waiting for its master to take it.
"Dike," her lips said and the spear seemed to glow with excitement, like it was alive. Reaching out, Sera took a hold of the strange weapon. Cool to the touch, light and it sent Sera strange vibes. Twirling around herself with ease she tested out her new weapon. Her eyes went to the demons who, kindly enough, stood there patiently. She raised her spear and a smirk formed on Sera's lips. "Come on," she jeered. Cautiously the demons went after her, one by one.
Tackling her with ease, the demons dog piled Sera. Her wings quickly covered her body, protecting her. Slowly she started to push herself up and with a huge burst of energy Sera blew the demons away. "That all you got? Pathetic." She hovered above the ground and cracked her neck. Leaning foreword she charged at the remaining demons, who started to recover from what just happened. Twirling her spear around and quickly switching from her right hand then to her left and back again, she cuts through the demons she flew past. Behind her were now only ashes from her fallen foes.
Looking back she couldn't help but chuckle. "Weak as ever," Sera said with a sigh. Putting the tip of the spear to the ground Sera stared at the portal that still sat in the middle of the park. Now, no demons came through the demonic hole. They knew better. Flying over to it Sera gazed at the hole. Her head tilting from side to side slowly. The symbols surrounding the hole had changed. I guess even over time symbols as ancient as the ones were used when I was alive change.
Putting her index and middle finger to her lips, Sera closed her eyes and started to chant once again. When Sera opened her eyes the portal had disappeared. She ran her fingers through her hair before stretching out a bit. How strange....after all this time....her thoughts seemed to say.
At the moment Sera felt like a entirely different person, she felt as if she wasn't Seraphina. But...how could that be? She was Seraphina and no one else....right? So then why did she feel so strange? Suddenly a dark feeling filled the air and Sera's body felt heavy. Her hand gripped Dike tightly as her eyes scanned all around the park. She wasn't alone. Someone strong was near by, watching her.
Jumping back, Sera's eyes narrowed when a blackened lighting bolt struck the spot where she was just standing moments ago. This...no it couldn't be. Soon laughter filled the air and Sera's eyes darted around. "Show yourself!" How could this be? He should be dead! No, his memories and powers should be sealed away! So how...how do I feel like I'm being overwhelmed by such dark power? "Show yourself! Apollyon!"
Then, everything went silent. The laughter faded and the dark aura went along with it. The only thing that was left was the scorched spot where the lighting had struck. Sera was now all alone. The humans gone, demons rendered to dust, and that stranger....gone like the wind.
Sera's body relax and it started to tingle. Now she felt weak. "Ha...." she let out shakily as her grip on Dike loosened and her spear fell to the ground, making clanking sounds, before disappearing. Falling to her knees, Seraphina's head started to spin and her vision went crazy. The last thing she felt was her face hitting the cool ground and her body going cold.
