After a night of thoughts and sleep, I woke up with the beam light of the sun. I grabbed my bathrobe and went to take a shower. While heading down to the kitchen, I can already smell the aroma of bacon sizzling into the hot pan over the heat.

I made my way down the stairs to see my mom's dark brown hair in a bun. Her eyes were shining with the ray of sunlight peeping from the window. She was short, a little thick and her skin tone was brown. She was simply beautiful.

She looked happy as ever as I can tell from the humming noise she made.

"Good morning mom!" I said

"Good morning darling"

"Ready for breakfast?" She asked.
I licked my lips that indicates a big YES!

She put a plate of hot crispy bacon, with toast in front of me. "Yummy!!" I said before stuffing my mouth with the bacon.

"Whoa, take your time and chew sweetheart before you can't breathe," dad said smiling as he walked into the kitchen.

I paid no attention to him but the bacon on my plate.

Dad sat down and talked about the school that I'll be getting into. He said that when he's home from work this evening, he will stop by some school called " Lake High Academy " and see if he could get me in.

I thought about the name and it already sounded strange. I hate making new friends, especially at new schools. They are always rude and love to discourage students. But who knows, this school may be different.

Soon the doorbell rang and mom went to answer it. Then I heard my grandmother's voice. " You know I almost forgot that your grandmother is coming today?" Dad told me. I give a sigh of relief and walked towards the door to greet her. After all, we don't choose our family.

"Grandma!!" I yelled with open arms trying really hard to fake it. " My little pumpkin, I miss you so much!" She said pinching my cheeks, treating me like I'm 7 and not 17.

She hugged me really hard and gave me a kiss on my cheek. She then greeted dad and we all headed for the living room to catch up a bit.

"How's the psychic Job going?" Mom asked grandma.

Wait. She's what now??

I was shocked to hear this. I never thought that grandma had a job, let alone this job.

"It's going amazing. I've heard some peculiar stories and some just excites me. Only last week I went on a ghost hunt."

Ghost hunt??? What...the.. f. (fish)

She sat there talking about the cute ghost she went after and how it was fun...blah...blah..blah
And she went on and on and on the supernatural topics.
She's 50 and still looks like she's 30.
How's that possible?

I was tired of all the talking so I told mom I was going for a walk by the lake.

But grandma looked like she didn't want me to leave her eyes by the look she gave me. I didn't study it but brush it off my sleeves.

I remembered the swing that I saw yesterday while walking and I decided to pay a visit. I finally reached it and I can see the Oaktree better in the daylight.

It looked a bit strange because it set a way that I thought it was a man's head. It freaked me out I admit.  I didn't pay attention to that, but the swing that was rocking back and forth with the wind.

I climbed on it and dragged my feet in the fallen brown leaves. It felt so comfortable that I swung for a while. Then I walked towards the lake and thinking if I should cross the bridge and see if they were any neighbours. It was getting kinda bored here.

I looked at my phone and saw the time was 11:30 am. I know that my dad would be at work and grandma and mom will be making lunch.

So I decided to take a leap of faith.

I stood at the edge of the bridge, held on the railing and walked across. The huge, wide lake beneath isn't that far away from the bridge, but I can tell it isn't that shallow of a lake either. Another thing, I can't swim.

That didn't bother me so I walked over the bridge and I saw a house. It looks exactly like the one I lived in. How strange. The only thing that's different it's the colour.

I wanted to know more, so I kept on walking.

I came upon the house's lawn. I looked around and there isn't any house in sight but mine if you look really close.

I knocked on the door but no one answered. I decided to opened it and there it shocked me. I saw grandma and my mom in the living room, talking. But it seems like they didn't notice me.

I couldn't feel my hands on the knob. I felt paralyzed and my words are in my throat. I stood there not knowing what to do. Was this real? Or was I hallucinating?

I had breakfast. Nothing's wrong here over my side.

Then I saw something that's even weirder. I saw a boy in the kitchen. He was looking at my mom and grandmother, trying to get their attention. It seems like my grandma noticed him but ignored him.

I closed the door as I felt my phone vibrate in my pocket. It was a message from my mom. She told me to come home and that lunch is ready.

I wanted to stay and see more. But I need to be cautious and I can't let anybody know about this. I looked for the bridge. I found it and when I almost on the other side, I felt lighter  I felt like I was being released from something.

I jogged home thinking about what I saw. Was it another world? Was it an illusion? A lot of thoughts came to my head but I didn't know which is right.

I went inside and sat quietly in the kitchen waiting for mom to put food in front of me.

After I finished eating, I decided to catch up with grandma. I never thought I will say that but I think she might know something about the house since she lived on this side of Trinidad for a while.
