Chapter 10 - Late Night Talks

Rainbow Dash's POV:

(A day later)

Applejack and I are currently talking about anything and everything. We don't want things to get awkward between us after our confession. We still want things to be the same as they've always been.

Applejack was laying down next to me in my bed. We stared at the "ceiling" as we talked. It's not really a ceiling because we're inside of a tent but I don't know another word to call it. We had long and short conversations, deep and funny conversations and I love it so much.

There was a five minute silence between us after our last topic, which was about who we last dated. Surprisingly, Applejack has never been in a relationship, and neither have I. I decided to break the silence by asking, "do you think opposites attract?" I don't know why I asked that question, it was just from the top of my head. I smacked my face with my palm at the stupid question I asked.

"No, actually," she responded. I was shocked and I turned to face her because I thought she would think opposites attract. She turned to face me too and continued, "I feel the relationship wouldn't last very long. It could work but it requires a lot of effort and determination if you really love that person and want things to work out. In my honest opinion, common interests are the key to romance," she finished with a wink and I felt my cheeks heat up.

"Yeah, I guess you're right," I replied with a bit of pink still lingering in my cheeks. We stayed silent for a while, but it wasn't the uncomfortable and awkward type of silence.

"Hey, girls," said Sunset as she and the rest of our friends came in. "Hey," I replied. "We wanted to know if you guys are okay since you haven't came out at all since yesterday evening," spoke Twilight, "it's 5 PM." Applejack and I both stood up in shock. "What?! Really?" asked Applejack still surprised. Twilight nodded her head up and down. "What were you guys doing anyway?" asked Rarity curiously. "We were just talking about stuff. We didn't know we spent like 9 hours talking," I replied. I placed my hands on my head. I was shocked but really happy on the inside. I've never had a really long talk with anyone until now with Applejack. We've known each other for years and we know our interest and whatnot but now we're getting to know each other a lot more from the inside. Last night we shared some of our deepest secrets and if you ask me, that's real trust.

"Are ya blushing?" asked Applejack looking at me with a smirk as she grabbed my hands and put them down softly. "No," I replied smiling as I crossed my arms and looked away. "Awww, Dashie, you're so red!" yelled Pinkie happily. "Am not," I said. "Are too," said Applejack still smiling at me. I felt butterflies in my stomach.

8 PM

Applejack went to go eat dinner with our friends at the cabin. I stayed inside since I'm not really hungry. I'm really bored if I'm gonna be honest. The only moments when I'm not bored are when I'm with Applejack. Too bad she's not here. I groaned as I sat up in my bed.

I looked around the tent to find something to do. I looked over at Applejack's bed and got an idea. I'm gonna leave her some flowers there. "Where can I find flowers though?" I asked myself. I got up and told myself, "I'll go look for them." It was pretty dark when I got out, which makes sense since we're inside a forest. I started to walk around looking for flowers even though it's pretty hopeless since it's dark and I can barely see a thing.

After five minutes of looking I gave up so I decided to go to the cabin where my friends are at since I have nothing else to do. I walked inside and saw them sitting by the table near the windows. "Hey, guys," I said as I walked to them and sat next to Sunset Shimmer. "Hey, what made you decide to come?" she asked. "I was bored" I said plainly. Applejack was sitting across from me and she gave me a warm smile. I smiled back. "Pinkie was just telling us about a party she's gonna host when we get back," Sunset said, trying to catch me up. Pinkie nodded excitedly. "Cool. What's the party about?" I asked. "It's gonna be a Welcome back to Canterlot High party!" replied Pinkie Pie with a huge smile on her face. I face palmed and Fluttershy chuckled quietly.

3rd Person POV:
"Pinkie was telling us about a party she's thinking of hosting before we go back to Canterlot. Fill Rainbow in, Pinkie" said Sunset to her pink friend.

"Oh yeah! Valentine's Day is right around the corner so I was thinking of throwing a party! It's gonna be a romance theme so I want you guys to find a date to bring to the dance!" said Pinkie enthusiastically.

Rainbow Dash immediately looked at Applejack and to her surprise, Applejack was looking at her too. Applejack turned her gaze away from her friend almost immediately, with a small blush formed in her cheeks. Rainbow smiled softly. Sunset Shimmer saw her two friends look at each other in a lovingly way and smiled at the thought of her friends being together. Believe it or not, Sunset knows when there's chemistry and she certainly knows her rainbow haired friend and cowgirl share it.

After a few hours of planning the party, the group of friends decided to call it a night. As Rainbow walked out tiredly, Sunset ran behind her and yelled, "Rainbow, hold up!" Rainbow stopped in her tracks, turned around, and replied, "Yeah, what's up, Sunset?"

"Stop me if I'm intruding but I think you and Applejack have something going on, romantically," Sunset told her friend. Rainbow forced a laugh and said, "What? Me and Applejack? What makes you say that?"

"Well a number of things, actually. I can name them all but I know I don't have to because you know them. The dance is the perfect opportunity to ask her out."

"I don't know about that," replied Rainbow. "Applejack and I are really good friends and I don't want to ruin it between us"

"So you admit you have feelings for Applejack" replied Sunset with a smirk. Rainbow Dash rolled her eyes and couldn't help but blush a little. "Yeah I do. So what?" said Rainbow. "So... ask her out. I'm confident she has feelings for you too. Let me be your wingman."

Rainbow laughed at the idea of having a wing man. "I'll sleep on it. I'll see you tomorrow, Sunset." Rainbow Dash and Sunset said goodnight to each other and went to their tents.

Rainbow Dash walked in and found Applejack asleep in her bed. Rainbow smiled softly and put a blanket over her friend. Applejack flinched and woke up. "Sorry, I didn't mean to wake you up," apologized Rainbow. "It's fine, sugar. Sorry I'm in your bed. Somehow I can only sleep in yours. My bed is too hard. I'll get outta here so you can sleep," replied Applejack and she slowly got up from the bed.

"Nah it's cool. You can stay there," Rainbow said generously. "Ya sure?" asked Applejack.
"Positive."

Applejack gave her friend a warm smile. Rainbow smiled back and walked towards Applejack's bed.

"Rainbow?"

"Yeah?"

"Sleep with me."

Dash looked over at her friend as a blush began to form in her cheeks. "I heard it's gonna be mighty cold tonight and I don't want ya to freeze alone over there." Said Applejack with a blush. "Okay" said the rainbow haired girl as she got into the bed with Applejack. They were facing each other and got comfortable. Applejack slowly began to fall asleep again. Rainbow smiled at the thought of waking up next to Applejack every single day of her life.

As Applejack fell asleep, Rainbow slowly moved towards her friend and kiss her forehead softly. "Good night, Apples" she said as she drifted off to sleep.
