Scouting journal
Log date: 48 hours since arrival to the Underground, 200X.
Location: Snowdin Forest.
After saving my progress, I continued down the snowy road, encountering a few monsters on the way. I dealt with them easily enough, doing what seemed was right to different monsters. I passed by a large cardboard box that was painted to look like a sentry outpost. There was some writing scribbled on it, but unfortunately it wasn't very legible. Once I passed the box, I saw the actual sentry outpost nearby. There was a sign next to it that said, 'Absolutely NO moving!!!' with multiple exclamation points written neatly in black paint.
Keeping the information in mind, I continued, only for a large dog-monster to sit up from inside the station. I froze, watching the monster carefully.
"Did something move?? Was it just my imagination? I can only see moving things... If something was moving, for example, a human, I'll make sure it never moves again!" It spoke in a low, gruff voice, before engaging me in a fight.
"Don't move an inch!" He threatened, creating an ice blue sword and sending it towards me. Out of reflex, I moved to dodge, wincing slightly when the magical attack hit me. The monster barked wildly, as if affirming I was indeed there. I realized then that this monster was motion blind, which, although rare in human beings, could actually happen. "It moved! It didn't not move!" He attacked again using the same method, but this time I stayed still. The sword passed through my soul, doing no damage to me. I smirked in triumph. Perhaps these 'royal guards' aren't as great as they seem.
I continued to be still, eventually getting an opportunity to pet the monster. It whipped its head around, trying to see what had pet him. To put the icing on the cake, I took out the stick I had found and played fetch with the monster, before sparing it when it was tired. It muttered to itself before sinking back into the station.
I continued, a smile on my face as the skeleton brothers came into view.
"So, as I was saying about Undyne..." Papyrus trailed off, noticing me. "Oho, the human arrives! Are you prepared to experience immense amounts of fun? Because! The amount of fun you will have.. is actually rather small I think. Because this is the invisible electricity maze! In any case! Proceed!"
I lifted my leg to move when the taller skeleton flinched, a dusting of soot now covering his skull. "Sans!! What did you do?!?" He stamped his boots in the snow.
"Uh... I think the human has to hold the thing." Sans shrugged calmly. "Oh." With that, Papyrus carefully walked towards me, placed a small ice blue sphere in my hands, and sprinted back, unintentionally revealing the solution to me via his footprints.
Slowly, I limped through the maze, making sure to step only in Papyrus's large footsteps. I think Sans noticed my slight limp, because he nudged Papyrus and whispered something to him. After I had solved the puzzle, Papyrus cleared his throat, looking sheepish.
"Human! My brother Sans has pointed out the small limp in your gait, so I, The Great Papyrus, must ask you... Are you alright?" His smile had shrunk a little as he talked.
Not having anything to lose, I decided to be truthful. "I will admit, although I am at full health, my ankle was broken when I initially fell here. It's nothing I can't handle. I've had much worse." I waved off his concern, after all, a broken ankle is nothing compared to the injuries I've gotten in the past.
Sans didn't seem convinced. "You sure, kiddo?" Sans pressed. I got the impression Sans would be frowning if he could. "It's no big deal, honestly. Physical injuries like these just take a bit longer to heal, that's all. It should be fine in a day or two." Sans sighed. "If you say so, kid." With that, we continued with the puzzles.
At some point I stumbled across a table and a plate of spaghetti while solving the puzzles. There was a note stuck to the table as well, but again I could not read it. When I attempted to sample the spaghetti, I was disappointed when the plate and meal itself was frozen to the table. Which was a shame, because I love spaghetti.
Moving on, I saved my progress and continued through the forest.
