Scouting journal.
Log date: 50 hours since arrival in Underground, 200X.
Location: Snowdin town.
Eventually, I reached the monster settlement of Snowdin. It was very... welcoming towards me. None of the monsters regarded me as different, leaving me to assume all the encounters I've had were a method of judging an individual. Like a ritual to get a basic understanding of a person.
That makes sense, right?
Anyways, I began poking around the town, my recon training coming in handy.
From what I could gather from the various monsters, it seemed that monsters had been trapped underneath Mt. Ebott for such a long time, that most monsters were beginning to lose hope of ever reaching the surface. It was sad, really. If they knew what life on the surface was like nowadays, they'd most likely never want to see the sun.
I found out the monsters had a library, which made me grin. Perhaps I could learn more of their history.
After entering the library, talking to some of the monsters there, and finding a spot where I could sit down, I began fingering through the different books until I came across the history section.
Grabbing a handful of the important looking books, I began skimming the pages over, picking out the unimportant information.
'Mercy. Love. Hope. These are the things commonly found to create a monster soul. The nature of 'soul' is fairly unknown to us. After all, humans have proved they don't need these things to exist.' I snorted in amusement as I read this.
"Heh. Mercy and love aren't necessary for a soul to exist. It helps, certainly, but mercy and love are optional." I muttered to myself, getting up and putting the books away.
I suppose I should find Papyrus now.
Exiting the library, then rereading the sign and laughing to myself when I realized it spelled 'Libraby' instead of 'library', I walked to the edge of town, shivering slightly as a cold wind whipped past me. I could barely make out the silhouette of the tall skeleton.
"Human. Allow me to share so complex feelings with you. The joy of finding another puzzle lover... The need to enjoy home cooked meals... The opportunity to create a new friend... This is what you must be feeling!" The skeleton turned around to face me, his cape fluttering in the wind behind him. "Worry not, human! For I, The Great Papyrus, will be your..." Suddenly, Papyrus seemed to falter, then muttered to himself something I could not quite catch.
"No no no... This is all wrong! I can't be your friend! You are a human! I must capture you! Then I can fulfill my lifelong dream! Popular! Prestigious! Powerful! That's Papyrus! The newest member..."
My soul flashed in front of me, the dark burgundy heart staring back at my dull eyes.
"...of The Royal Guard!"
Well shit.
I looked over my options in the 'ACT' menu.
'Flirt'? Not likely.
'Insult'? Sans would have my head if I did, so no.
Finally, I settled on 'Check'.
*Papyrus- ATK 20 DEF 30 Likes to say 'Nyeh heh heh!'*
As soon as I read this, Papyrus cackled. "Nyeh heh heh!" The field around us erupted as Papyrus summoned countless white bones with his magic. The bones raced towards me, whipping past like bullets.
Suddenly I was back on the front lines, dodging enemy fire with everything I had. Even with a broken ankle, I dodged every attack he threw at me with unparalleled expertise.
