CHAPTER TWO:
Inside I started to feel like I couldn't hold my weight and could collapse any second. Although, I didn't feel much pain from the wound because of my adrenaline. When we got to the kitchen Norman wet a paper towel and handed it to me. I wiped all the excess blood off my face and then he handed me another one to keep on as I went home.
When I walked outside Sheila had my bike in one hand and my helmet in the other. I walked towards her and she started to walk me home. Norman said he would catch up in a bit after he put the dog inside.
While we were walking home Sheila kept telling me she was sorry about it and how bad she felt. I wanted to reply but my body wouldn't let me. I felt that if I spoke I would crumple into bits and just fall onto the floor. So instead as she talked to me I kept a straight face and glanced at her once in a while as I nodded so she could see I was listening.
As we approached my house and walked inside I heard my mom in the laundry room. She came out and asked me to remove the paper towel. When I did she gasped and held her breath for a few seconds then pushed me towards the kitchen and had me sit down. While we were walking Sheila explained what happened to my mom as I felt closer and closer to fainting. When my mom started talking to me I would either shrug or nod but mostly just keep looking off into space.
While my mom was getting me juice, because she thought I looked sickly pale, Sheila was explaining that all I needed to do was put Neosporin and a bandage on. Then Norman walked in and shuffled to the kitchen where he said the same thing as his wife that all I would need was Neosporin and a bandage.
But my mom insisted that I go to the emergency room because I might have needed stitches. She tried calling my dad who went to CVS to get some ice for the Christmas Eve party we were hosting in 45 minutes, but he had left his phone at home.
So my mom decided to just take me. I guess she was in more shock than me because she didn't know where the emergency room was and so Norman and Sheila offered to drive in front of us so my mom could follow. As we waited in the driveway for Norman and Sheila, my dad pulled up and before he could make it up the driveway my mom hopped out of the car and took off towards him screaming like a maniac. I couldn't hear what she was saying but I guess my mom told my dad what happened because I could see the angry expression on his face as he glanced at me and headed towards the car.
He sat in the seat behind me screaming stuff like,
"Why the fuck would you go towards the dog in the first place?!?!?"
"Are you stupid?!?"
I sat there listening to his rant as I got weaker and weaker to the point where I couldn't talk. I stared blankly at the road ahead of us with my back all the way against the leather seat under me.
Finally when my dad realized I wasn't gonna speak he shut up which left the car in utter silence.
