"Itachi-san where are we going?" I asked shivering in the cold snow as he held my hand.
"I'm taking you somewhere safe, Yuri." he said back squeezing my hand.
"Why? Is it not safe in the Leaf?" I asked looking up at him, his black hair swaying in the wind and his onyx eyes shadowed but smiling.
"No, it is." he said.
"Then why must we leave?" I asked tugging on his arm.
He pulled me into his arms and started to jump from tree to tree.
"Because." he whispered.
I nodded and clung onto his shirt my 7 year old body freezing from the cold. I must have dozed off, because when I came to, we had stopped and Itachi-san was looking down at me.
"What?" I asked confused and groggy.
"We're here." he stated. "You'll be staying with a man that I know can take care of you."
I stared curiously and at the small welcoming cottage in front of us and shivered again from the falling snow.
"Where are we?" I asked clinging to his shirt again.
"The Land of the Mist." Itachi-san told me.
He walked up to the door and set me down next to him. I clung to his hand, not wanting to let go. He knocked on the door and it opened after the second knock. A man who looked to be about 20 wearing no shirt with lots of muscles, stripped pants with cow print arm warmers and wrappings over his mouth stood before us. He had short black hair and dark eyes. I could tell he was a ninja from his headband and the giant sword by the door.
"Yes?" he asked looking at me ten at Itachi-san.
"Ah, Itachi, come in." he smiled slightly under the wrappings over his mouth and gestured us to come in.
"I need you to take care of her." Itachi said when we got in.
They started to talk and I ran to the couch. There was a blanket and I pulled it up and wrapped it around me. My pink long sleeved dress was nowhere to be seen.
"Who are you?" I asked the man when Itachi-san was done talking to him.
Itachi-san came over to me and held my hand. "You'll be staying here with Zabuza. Zaboza Momichi is his name and he will train you to be a strong ninja like me. He'll protect you too." he said.
"Your not staying?" I asked cocking my head to the side.
He looked down. "I- can't."
"B-but your my only family and friend, why can't I stay with you?" I asked tears welling up in my eyes.
Itachi-san stood and looked down at me. "It's not safe to stay with me. Zabuza will protect you and when you feel the time is right, you may leave." he finished and walked to the door.
I stood and ran to him, the blanket falling from my shoulders. I hugged his leg and smiled at him.
"I love you, nii-san." I sniffled.
His eyes widened when I said "nii-san." He wasn't my real brother, but I feel like he is. I will always love him.
"I love you too, Yuri. Now go to Zabuza." Itachi said patting my head and messing my short black hair up.
I nodded and he bent down kissing my forehead. I ran to Zabuza and looked up at him. I smiled and looked back to Itachi-nii san.
"I'll see you soon." I said and waved as he left out the door.
"So what's your name kid? Want some food?" Zabuza asked looking at me.
"Yuri Kobayashi and yes please." I said and sat down at the kitchen table.
I can't wait to become a ninja and find Itachi-nii again. Then we can be a family and live happily ever after. The only thing I can't comprehend is, why isn't it safe?
