"RRRRRRRRRRRIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGGGGGG"

My alarm goes off and I get up and turn it off. I set it across my bed so I would be sure to wake up. I look over to the mirror and then it hits me.

Today is the day of solo contest. That means I will be at school on a Saturday for 8 hours. My first event is singing, and I am absolutely dreading that because I know for a fact I won't be warmed up and my voice won't sound very good, but I cannot under any circumstances back out now. Then I have my women's singing group next, and I am super pumped for that! I get to sing the prettiest songs and in a smaller group so every one will sound good, and it wont be the whole choir, that somewhat butchered the song. Plus we have the (cute) college student composer/student teacher that wrote the song there watching us! After that I have all of my clarinet things to go: A quartet, a duet, then ending with my solo.

My mom yells from downstairs, "ya ready to leave yet hon?" and obviously I was not but she likes to ask stupid questions like that to get me going.

I respond to her with a sarcastic, "Absolutely I have been ready and waiting for hours".

She yells back to me, "Very funny Kate, but seriously we need to go before 8:00"

Ewh. School. Before 8 on a weekend. Not. Cool.

I run to the shower and try to speed up the process by skipping my pumice stone (no one will see my feet anyway) but I make sure to get every hair off my legs.

When I exit the steaming room I walk in and see my long black dress on my bed. So I didn't need to shave after all. Goodness. There goes a good 5 minutes of today.

After I am done putting on my dress I go to my bathroom and get my makeup ready. That takes me a solid 20 minutes. Hopefully I will have my hair done in time, but considering its still somewhat wet, I doubt we will be able to leave in 15 minutes.

I go into my moms bathroom and pull up my stool. I am terrible at doing hair and she could have been a professional hair stylist, so every morning I come to her bathroom and ask her to do a different hairstyle on me. Today I'm just going to go with a simple yet elegant and professional looking hairstyle, a half pull back. Since my hair is already straight it doesn't take her long to do it and straighten it, however it does take more than 15 min to dry it and do it. We end up getting to school in 25 minutes. Not too far behind schedule, and with plenty of time to warm up. We venture to the gym (me leading her cuz she is lost) and set our stuff down there. I walk like a total diva because I have my hair done, my makeup beautiful, and I am wearing heels, a long black dress, and a really awesome hot pink trench coat.

Not many people are here yet, because it is really early and everyone is supposed to show up an hour before their first event, and not many people have events at 9:30.

****** fast forward through the day******

Everyone is gathered in the gym for pictures now that everything is over. I managed to get division one's on everything but my vocal solo, but I never expected to get a one on that anyways! I send out a mass text to Tyler, Ben, Sarah, Lexi, Mandy, and Nate about a musicians dinner at panda express.

Both Lexi and Many are babysitting and Nate has too much homework. Sarah calls me back and says that she can't because she is going prom dress shopping in Minneapolis with her mom. I get a 'sure :)' back from Ben and literally no word back from Tyler. I try calling him like 5 times and then just give up. I guess it will be my mom, Ben, and I out for dinner at Panda. I am going to try my hardest but I know this will be a little awkward at the very minimum.

We pull away from the high school and go back home, which only takes us 2 min, because we live a few blocks away thankfully. If not I would most likely be late to school every single day. I do my famous one minute change into something cute and appropriate for the weather, which turned out to be 80 degrees! IN IOWA! LIKE WHAT THE HECK!

We pulled out of our driveway and in 7 min ended up at panda express. Since it was so nice, we decided to eat outside. We both took two seats at a table next to a bunch of college students who were being really rowdy. It didn't take long until Ben met us there. But, while we were waiting the wind picked up a lot and the sun started to get covered by some stormy looking clouds.

We hurriedly went inside and joined the very very long line. Ben offered to pay but then my mom immediately said she would pay, because we worked hard today. We ended up sitting inside and making some small talk but then we all got comfortable and were laughing and telling embarrassing funny stories. It was a great 'party' of three and when we were all done we said our goodbyes and entered in our separate vehicles.

We entered and turned on the heated seats and my mom said, "Ya know I think you guys would be a cute couple, well if you weren't dating other people."

"What?" I said raising my voice.

"I think you guys would be a cute couple. You aren't awkward at all. Sometimes Tyler can be a bit awkward though," She responded.

"Ok, good to know mom. And fyi I do not crush on Ben, he is more like a brother to me. Plus I am very content with Tyler and I's awkward moments," I tell her.

"Well I'm glad you feel that way," She said. What was that supposed to mean?
