Three is Better Than One

Niall and Liam were fighting, or maybe they weren't fighting.  They were arguing.  I didn't want to appear nosy, but I was curious to what was going on.

I quickly changed into my next outfit and crept down the hall.  I peered around the corner, to where they were standing.

Liam's face was red, he had been crying during Moments, but it appeared brilliantly bright in the luminescent backstage lights.  Niall was trying to comfort Liam, I think.  They were talking quietly.  I could barely hear it at all.

Since nothing was happening, I was about to turn around and get ready to go back onstage...but then they kissed.

My jaw may have been on the floor, laying with my heart, and lungs, and every other bodily organ that stopped working for a minute.

I was shocked, motionless, gasping for breath that wouldn't come.  I was confused, angry, fascinated, and jealous.

The jealousy hit hardest of all, tearing through my body like a train.  Niall and Liam were KISSING. They were fucking kissing.

I closed my eyes, shoved the image out of my head, and went back to Louis and Harry  who were still changing.

"Where are Liam and Niall?"  Harry asked.

I paled.  "I,er, don't want to talk about it."

"What?  Zayn, what's going on."

I couldn't tell Harry.  "Nothing, it's nothing."

In a few minutes we were back on stage singing "Gotta Be You." That song was easy to sing, and I hit my notes flawlessly.

Then 'More Than This' was up.  I don't know if it was my jealousy, or that this song was emotional to me, but I sang it with more passion and fierceness than ever before.  The fans went wild, and the boys were speechless.  I even went for a high note I've never done before, and it worked.

"What was that?"  Liam mouthed to me, as we took our places for the next song.

I glared at him and didn't answer.  His eyes widened in recognition.

"You saw Niall and I."  He whispered, stating the obvious.

I nodded and looked away.

"I'm sorry Zayn."  He murmured, as a single tear fell from my eye.
