Three is Better Than One

Liam

"One minute!"  The voice rang from my earbuds.

One minute until our first concert since the Harry and Louis fiasco.  One minute until we see how our fans actually react to their newfound relationship.  Will they change?  Will nothing change?

One minute until we know.

Niall was jumping up and down, energized and ready to go.  Zayn was humming something to himself.  Louis and Harry were in the corner backstage, whispering and giggling to eachother.  I rolled my eyes.  "One minute, let's get ready."

We all took our lineup, and the countdown began.

"10...9...8...7...6...5...4...3...2...1."

We ran onstage, breaking into song."

"We're like na, na, na.  Then we're like yeah, yeah, yeah."

The crowd went wild as usual, but something was off.  I didn't know what it was.  Maybe it was just my stupid feelings getting in the way of everything.  I tried to relax, and started my verse.

"We've got a bit of love hate, take me to the edge then we hit the breaks.  I say it's over one day, then I'm calling back begging you to stay.  We make up and we break up all the time."

I got into the song, and my nerves subsided.  Song after song passed, and then we started to sing 'Moments'.

"Shut the door, turn the light off, I wanna be with you.  I wanna feel your love.  I wanna lay beside you, I cannot hide this, even though I try."

"Heart beats harder, time escapes me.  Tremblin' hands touch skin, it makes this harder.  And the tears stream down my face."

Even though I tell people my favourite song from 'Up All Night' is 'One Thing,' it's actually 'Moments.'  'Moments' is a beautiful melody.  Ed Sheeran knew what he was doing when he wrote it.  I feel everything when I sing this song.

Harry sang his solo, looking at Louis the whole time.  Louis's face shone brighter than the sun with a smile that lit up the whole room.  It was touching, the fans screamed even louder.

Then Niall started his solo...

"Close the door, throw the key.  Don't wanna be reminded, don't wanna be seen.  Don't wanna be without you, my judgement's clouded, like tonight's sky."

I don't know what happened to me, but I lost it.  Niall's pure, beautiful, emotional voice broke the wall inside my heart, and everything poured out.  The tears streamed down my face, like this song was describing.  I couldn't stop my crying, all the other boys noticed, but continued to sing.  I didn't sing my harmony in the next chorus because I was so choked up.

I didn't think it could get any worse, until Zayn sang.  I think he and Niall have the best voices in the band, they are so different but beautiful in many ways.  While Niall's is low and steady, Zayn's is powerful and controlled.  Sobs wracked me when he hit the note at the end.

The fans on the floor noticed my crying.  Many were confused, but most of them were clapping or screaming even louder.  It just made everything worse, since I didn't know why I was crying in the first place.

Thank god the costume change was right after 'Moments,' I had to clear my head.
