Yoosung

The train shook and rattled as it traveled through the metroplex of Japan. It was extremely crowded, just as you saw in movies and even Japanese games, and only a murmuring of people chattering was heard. Most stayed silent, looking out the windows if they were next to one, or, if they were like me, hung on to the handles above for dear life and focused on avoiding bumping into other passengers.

The plane from Seoul to Tokyo hadn't been long, but I wouldn't be able to tell you much, even if you insisted. I was asleep the whole time.

I was on my way to a video game convention, one where my favorite game of all time, LOLOL, would be showcased, as it's long awaited sequel would be premiered at the convention. I was extremely excited. The game helped me a lot, except when it took up all my time, then it became something I wanted to avoid. I hoped that the new one, as promising as it sounded, wouldn't be as addicting as the first one, but that was like asking for wasabi to not be spicy.

Spicy was the definition of wasabi.

My reason for playing the game was simply because I needed a way out. After Rika's death, who was my cousin, I wasn't really into much of anything. However, LOLOL became something that would allow my mind to forget for a few hours, forget about how much I was hurting inside.

Rika and I were very close, almost like siblings. So whenever she passed, I was devastated and heartbroken all the same. Not to mention, she had been the only one to know about my sexuality, no one else knew. I didn't have many friends after college, to begin with, so she was the only one I could reach out to because I knew my family wouldn't take it well.

But other than that, the game was pretty fun. The gameplay focused on battling between different cities, and the cps were so adorable! Most of them were girls too, but the ones I really drooled over were the men. There wasn't a whole lot of them in the entire game, about ten total, but they all looked so good, which made my self-esteem lower even more. I mean, I was crushing on a fake, computerized version of a human creature.

That's not exactly normal.

But that was my favorite part of the game, seeing those really sexy computer players kill a whole bunch of ugly demon things. I mean, imagine your crush slaying some bastard with a really awesome sword.

Sexy.

The convention I was going to was a one specifically for video games. It was going to be hosted in a hotel of sorts, with different levels being different game genres, some even getting two or three floors.

I was super excited, and I couldn't wait to see what was new, besides the sequel to LOLOL.

Then, the loudspeaker in the train announced our arrival at the Sigmond hotel, where the convention was being held. The line to get in was stretched just outside the building, and it took forty-five minutes to get through.
