Don't..." HakYeon shouted into the cold night, but it was too late. Her breath was warm against my cheek as I stood an inch away, one hand on her arm while the other held her neck...
Her skin was pale in the moonlight and the delicate scent of cherry blossoms could be detected through the sea of iron rich blood that had assaulted my senses. The pain of hunger tore at my abdomen as I looked into my loves tearful eyes.
"I... I love you" I whispered as pure instinct caused my vision to fade and my perfect senses to grow sharper, her pulse rang loud in my ears, pounding through my skull. Her breath hitched as I stopped the pathetic war of sanity versus instinct. The precious taste of pure life filled my mouth, warm but beautifully delicious. My hunger only seemed to grow as I pulled her tiny form closer, her nails dug into my unclothed back painfully but nothing could stop my hunger.
"Pl..please..." she whispered through a weak breath of cold autumn air, I stopped as her grip went limp and her heart rate seemingly stopped. Panic erupted through my undead heart causing me to drop my lifeless love and fall to my knees.
"No no no no... I couldn't of... she can't be..." I cried while I looked down at the woman I lived for. SoYoung looked almost peaceful, her eyes closed gently and her raven hair framing her beautiful face. The mirage of peace was betrayed by the small lines of dark crimson blood running down her thin neck and the pale lifeless colour of her once perfect skin.
"Calm down...please" came a voice from behind me as a comforting hand held my shoulder, "She's not dead yet" the general finished while he came into my field of view, his smooth voice soothing the emotions that were building up at an alarming rate.
"Now sleep..." HakYeon whispered into my ear, my mind felt foggy and my body seemed to melt into the autumn air, exhaustion overwhelmed me and I soon fell to the frosted ground letting sleep take me in her comforting arms.
I was walking through the hundreds of people, young and old, healthy and sick, rich and poor. We did this every year when the harvest came in, a festival of such, SoYoung giggled with one of her old friends leaving me seemingly alone. I continued to walk leaving her behind enjoying the crisp scent of fall and jovial sounds of children playing their games only they could understand.
"Wonshik!!... hey Wonshik!" Hollered a voice that froze the blood that ran through my heart, a voice that knew only pain and anger, a voice that could destroy what little peace I had.
"Wonshik!... wake up..." a bright light formed behind my eyelids as I reacted to a young unfamiliar voice. I pried open my eyelids open with a considerable amount of mental effort and blinked a few time clearing away the dream. Before me stood five men, all tall and supernaturally perfect.
"Hmm I'm glad you survived" HakYeon spoke from among the five his voice ringing through my improved ears. "You see sometimes the body cannot handle the shock of reanimation and it fades into dust. As you have already fed I wouldn't worry about that anymore." His words caused pain to assault my heart as I realized what I had done, I rushed to my feet but lost my balance and fell back down to my knees and regurgitated what little contents I had remaining in my stomach.
"Don't worry.. She is okay." Stated one of the other men in an almost too delicate voice, "you see after you dr... finished we treated her and fixed met memories.."
"Fixed her memories! What do you mean!" I questioned as anger seemed to bubble through my veins.
"You see Leo here has an incredible ability as many vampires develop over the course of their life, with his voice he can modify any mortals memories and thoughts." HakYeon spoke with almost too much pride as he looked over at the man called Leo. His skin was amazingly pale and his eyes dark, his hair hung long over those penetratingly serious eyes. One would almost think that he looked like a cat, well an incredibly bored cat.
"I on the other hand have the ability to command any living organisms... for example when I told you to sleep a few hours ago..." HakYeon continued as he studied my reaction carefully.
"Wait... what? You used your ability on me!" I yelled causing my raw throat to ache, but anger had set in numbing the pain. I suddenly felt exposed and hugged my knees to my chest, fear battling the anger for control over my emotions.
"I'm sorry... I didn't mean to hurt you, it's just you we're in a state... a state that could of lead to the death of that girl..."
"That girl has a name!" I screamed, "and a right to her own mind, what gives you monsters the impression that you can modify and change people's thoughts and control what they do? What gives you the right to make her forget anything? People are driven by their memories why would you change them?" My anger changed to sadness as tears trailed down my face.
"You see... if I let her remember you she would live her next few months in total regret and depression, and she would choose to end her life rather than fight for her health." Leo explained in his gentle voice.
"You mean... she doesn't even remember who I am...." I mumbled through the tears.
