“BEEP!” I wake up to the screeching sound coming from the alarm clock.  My eyes ache from jet lag, and I just want to go back to sleep.

“Rise and shine, lazy!” Susan shouts as she whips the blankets off of my bed, making me jump off the mattress because of the sudden change of temperature.

“Alright, just slip on your uniform, and get ready, I have some cereal and milk, that we can have for breakfast,” Susan urges, as she waves her hands beckoning me to start with the morning routine.

If there was any record for how quickly you can put on a complete outfit, I am definitely sure that I broke it by at least thirty seconds.  It turns out that Susan cannot stand to be late for anything, so it is important that we make it to the main school thirty minutes early.  I don’t mind though, because I tend to be an early freak as well.

After a good hearty dose of Lucky Charms Cereal, and Susan’s banter about us getting to school.  I am in the main hall of Broadlinger Academy, and let me say that it is ten times as beautiful as my last school.  There are huge archways, and real wood lining the halls.  Everything is magnificent.

I almost forget why I am here, Almost.  And then it all comes flooding to me.  The impossibility of my situation, it is just too strange.

“Are you ok Rory?” Susan asks concerned, as she pats my back comfortingly, obviously realizing how confused I look.

“Oh yeah, I’m fine, I was just kind of out of it for a second there, but now I’m back,” I say reassuringly.

“Ok, well let’s see what your first class is, and I’ll show you to it, we can find a place to meet after, so that I can take you to your next class,” Susan proposes.

“Alright, it looks like I have English first, with Ms. Langle,” I smile English is definitely my favorite subject; everything from reading and writing was my strong point.

“Oh, I know where that is, my friend Luke is in that class, I’ll get him to sit next to you,” Susan smiles.

She leads me down the never-ending hall, to a beautiful oak wood door, which looked too enchanting to be the door to the classroom of a high school.

Susan laughs as she sees my awed expression.

“Oh, here’s Luke, Luke this is Rory, she’s new,” Susan says, snapping me out of my trance as I whip around to see, a boy, a really handsome boy.

He has dirty blond hair that is disheveled, but very attractive at the same time.  His eyes are a dark-chocolate-brown-color that makes me want to melt.

“Hi, Rory,” he says politely as he reaches his hand out for me to shake.

“Uh, H-hi,” I answer back and immediately am embarrassed for my sudden lack of speech.  I shake his hand, and hope that mine does not feel clammy.

“So Luke, Rory is in your class for English, can you help her get settled?” Susan asks Luke.

Luke just smiles, and waves his hand as if to say “no problem”.  I blush for some unknown reason.  God, why does this boy have this effect on me?

Suddenly the first bell rings sending a jolt of reality back into my body.  I quickly swing the backpack that I used at my old school over my shoulder, and enter the classroom with Luke walking closely beside me.
