It is snowing as Susan, Luke, and I approach Luna’s Café.  It is a surprisingly big building that has a purple awning and a picture of a crescent moon on it.

“Hey, Susan you go ahead, I just want to ask Rory something,” Luke, says kind of nervously.  I look at him confused, but I just shrug deciding to go with it.

“Yeah, sure I’ll meet you guys inside,” Susan says cheerfully, as she slides through the door of the café.

“So, what did you want to ask me?” I question Luke.

“Well, um… I was just, you know wondering if… ok I guess I’ll just spit it out.  I want to ask Susan to the dance this Friday, and I was wondering if you could leave us alone for a little while, so I can ask her,” Luke stutters, as he looks nervously around.

“Yeah, sure, that sounds great!” I exclaim excitedly thinking of how good Luke and Susan will be together.

Luke and I then make our way into the warm café that is filled with students from Broadlinger.  The smell of coffee makes me think of my mom, and I feel a pang in my chest, reminding me of how much I miss her.  I see Susan sitting at a table with a cup of coffee.  She smiles as she sees Luke and I.

“I actually have to use the restroom, so bye,” I say when we get to her, as I give a sly wink to Luke, saying that this is the time to ask Susan.

“Ok, just don’t get lost,” says Susan worriedly.

I smile to assure her that I will be fine, and make my way towards the restrooms, grinning like mad, while thinking about how Luke will ask her to the dance.  I am too busy thinking to notice the figure standing in front of me, and I bump into it.

“We really have got to stop meeting like this,” Jack chuckles.  He is wearing long capris and a navy blue long-sleeved shirt that brings out his eyes.

“I know I’m really such a klutz, sorry,” I say shrugging.

“No problem, it’s one of the things that I like about you,” Jack laughs, and this makes me blush profusely.

“I’m glad that you came,” Jack says as he smiles at me.

            “Why wouldn’t I?” I ask rhetorically.

He just grins at me jokingly.

Jack puts a hand on my back, making me shiver, and leads me to a two person table where we both sit down.

“You know, I could really use some coffee, I think I’ll get some.  Do you want a cup?” I ask Jack.

“Oh, yeah, I just like it strong,” Jack nods.  I smile at him and head off to the counter, where I quickly make my order.  I tap my foot as I wait, my craving for coffee growing as I keep standing here.  My foot taps faster and faster, and I think that I am about to lose control if I don’t get my coffee right now.

“Rory, two large coffees,” the barista at the counter shouts, making me sigh with relief.

I grab the coffees and say thank you.  The heat emanating off of the cups, warms my hands up, which had been freezing cold this whole time.
