This is his watch, what he uses on his person to time travel. He entered whichever time he desires and speaks the location, or simply thinks it. It is genetically connected to him and only his personal DNA, no one else can make it work. However, he couldn't just walk around with something like that on his wrist, not in any time. Heck, a touch screen watch that doesn't even display the time but instead is just on some type of set up screen? No, it changes in appearance to the outside eye based off of where and when he travels to, to look like a normal watch. And it always displays the exact time that it is where he arrives, all he has to do to travel once more is find a place no one can see and tap at it twice, and it's touch screen display will reoccur on the face of whatever type of watch it has changed into. In Casper's world, or the semi-modern era, it would take on this appearance:
