We duct-taped the two 'prisoners' mouths shut. Since we couldn't find a place to hide them, we took all the valuable things out of our belts and put them into our pockets, then attached the belt to them and clicked the button that sent out a rope that attached to the ceiling and brought them up with it. Just like Blaze and I had done earlier to hide.
"We have to get to the elevator and take it down to the last level which is where we should be able to find the tech." I said, heading down the corridor. I soon spotted the elevator and made a beeline for it.
"Stop!" I heard a voice command. Blaze and I instantly stopped and stood frozen, facing a muscular, tall man that seemed to cast a shadow over us. "Who are you?" He questioned.
"I'm Leslie Cunningham and that is Jack Wright," I said, remembering the names from the I.D. Cards.
"Show me your I.D." The man demanded. I took out my I.D and Blaze took out his, sweat started to form on my brow, the girl and I didn't look a like at all. Blaze might be able to get away with his though. The man studied my face then looked at the I.D. Card.
"I had a makeover, dyed my hair and wear contacts," I lied helplessly with a small shrug.
"Attention, attention, intruders are in the building, I repeat, intruders are in the building!" I heard a speaker blurt. I took the opportunity of the mans surprise to grab my I.D and run.
"They must've found the two people we knocked out!" Blaze yelled as we ran straight to the elevator with guards chasing at us like dogs.
"Hurry, we have to get in the elevator!" I heard a gun shot and started running in zig zag lines so it would lessen the chance of a bullet hitting me. Blaze reached the elevator seconds before me and clicked the basement button, then he violently pressed the door closing button. I stood in a corner so that the bullets wouldn't get me. I heard one last shot before the doors closed, the bullet got into the elevator and started bouncing off the walls. Blaze and I ducked, covering our heads with our arms until the bullet dropped onto the floor. I cautiously brought my arms down, back to my side, when I noticed something red shinning on my arm, surprised, I realised I'd been skinned by the bullet. I turned away from Blaze so he wouldn't notice and ripped off a piece of my shirt and tied it around my arm to stop the bleeding, I then grabbed another piece to cover up the blood and bullet hole.
"Are you okay?" Blaze asked softly.
"Yeah, fine." I replied, turning back around to face Blaze.
"Why'd you rip up your shirt?" Blaze questioned curiously.
"Well...I..." I started lamely, right when the elevator doors opened, saving me from explaining myself. "Lets go." I said quickly.
"We have to make sure the elevator doesn't go back up so that they can't follow us." Blaze said, taking off his shoe.
"And what's that got to do with your shoe?"
"Watch." Blaze simply said, placing his shoe in between the two doors. "Now the doors can't close so it cant go back up." Blaze explained. The elevator doors closed but just opened again when they touched the shoe.I nodded in approval, impressed.
"Look, that must be it," Blaze said, pointing to a small grey box with flower designs at the end of the corridor, enclosed in a glass container.
"Come on," Blaze urged, starting to walk to the box.
"Wait!" I almost yelled, Blaze immediately stopped and looked at me quizzically. "There might be something wired up to set off an alarm."
"I have smoke bombs if that'll help." Blaze said with a shrug. I looked at him as if he were crazy.
"Really? A smoke bomb? Why on earth do you think that would help?" I questioned with a small laugh. Blaze smiled wearily and shrugged. I smiled and shook my head gently, I digging into my jean pocket and taking out some powder.
"Now this will help." I said with a smile. I opened the powder lid and blew it throughout the corridor, watching in satisfaction as red laser lights started to appear.
"Nice job." Blaze said with a wink.
"Now we just have to get across without triggering touching the lasers."
"You make it sound easy." I shrugged, stepping over the first laser and bending down so my head wouldn't hit the one above me.
We both dodged the lasers for a couple of minutes when I slipped. I let out a little squeal before I felt a pair of strong arms catch me. I looked up and saw Blaze's face, centimeters away from mine, smiling.
"Be careful." Blaze smiled with a wink.
"Right." I muttered, blushing. I got myself back up and continued on, finally reached the end. Just then, the shoe holding the doors open fell out and the doors closed completely, sending the elevator back upstairs.
"Quick!" I yelped. Blaze hurried over, opening the glass container and grabbing the box. Suddenly, alarms went blaring and people ran out of the elevator, surrounding us.
