I woke up to the sun beating on my face once again. I patted myself up and down. I'm still alive? I looked at my boat, battered and worn from a shark attack and what seemed like a storm. My sail was still damp. I suspected two days had passed based on the state of my boat. I picked up the compass from around my neck. I looked up. I saw LAND! I screamed with joy and danced around my boat. I had to prepare. I quickly ate some of my food supply, I was starving. I packed my backpack and slipped my cloak on and pulled the hood over my head. I knew I would have difficulty masking my accent. I pulled up to the dock and tied my boat. I turned and saw a tall, burly man with a pointy mustache.
"Registration?" He asked looking at me up and down.
"What?" I asked confused.
"Hey, you got some accent where ya coming from lady?" He asked looking suspicious.
"I am here to work," I lied
"Well we woulda had your name on the list. BOYS!" He shouted for his friends. Two men grabbed my arm and tied my wrists. "Let me go!" I yelled"HEY," I turned around to see a pale girl with long, black hair.
"Release her now! I am here to pick her up for Mister G." She said staring the mustache man straight in the eyes.
"She ain't on the list, neither are you." He retorted.
" You think the Boss has time for your silly list? Release her now or he is going to hear about this!" She said pulling up closer. "And you know what happened if he hears about this..." she whispered in his ear.
"Fine! Take her," he grumbled and walked away. I turned to the girl. "Thank you so much," I said to her, "Those men act like beasts."
"Especially to women, and especially to the pretty ones. My name is Faith." She said shaking my hand.
"Nice to meet you. My name is Violeta, but you can call me Violet." I said
"So how where you able to tame those men?" I asked curiously.
"I've been here for years, I know my way around." She said shrugging. We walked out of the port and into the streets.
"Where is here?" I questioned looking around.
"Welcome to Massachusetts," she said raising her hands.
"You aren't from around here." She said turning around.
"What gave it away?" I sighed.
"Well for starters, your accent. Not to mention your clothes. Oh, and your hair. Most woman don't have beach waves like you do." She said with a laugh.
"Yes, I need to blend in a little more." I smiled
"So, why are you here in the first place, Violet?" She asked. Before I could answer I heard a yell. I turned to see three men chasing a woman with bread in her hands. She had long braided hair, chocolate skin, and big brown eyes.
"STOP RIGHT THERE, LADY!" The men shouted. The woman didn't seemed phased at all. She didn't look so poor enough to be stealing which most likely meant she was doing this for someone else. This meant I was going to help. I pulled out my dagger and threw it. It caught one man's robes and stuck him to the side of the bakery. I saw Faith smile and pull out her...rope? She quickly tied one end to the side of the street and ran across the the other side. I turned to see five men charging at me but not before they tripped on the rope and face planted on the street. How clever! Faith and I ran into an alley way to see the thief give the bread to some poor children. I knew it! She turned around and saw us. One girl with tan skin and long wavy blonde hair with a bow and arrow, and another girl, pale with dark hair blowing in the wind holding a rope. I'm sure we looked like quite the odd pair. She smiled and stuck out her hand.
"Hello, my name is Genesis!"
