Chapter 9

After weeks of being away from Aliyu, Fatima was finally having a good day- or an okay day anyway.

She has been upset every day since she left, and she suspected that it was taking a toll on her daughter.

She decided to plan a fun day out with her. There's an amusement park not far from her brother's house.

So while Safiya was busy baby shopping with her daughters and Fadila was out with mama and the boys, Fatima decided then would be the time to go on a special mother-daughter day out.

Ameerah was especially excited.

Fatima dressed her daughter up in a casual blue jeans and a pink shirt with her braids up in a ponytail.

Fatima wore a dark purple abaya and a matching veil.

"Mommy, is daddy coming today?" Ameerah asked one of her very famous 'daddy questions'.

"No, daddy is busy today" Fatima quickly dismissed the conversation.

"When is daddy coming?" she inquired. For a girl her age she had great speech and an unbelievably curios mind.

"I don't know baby, but I'll ask him when we speak" she replied

"Call daddy" she demanded.

"I can't call daddy now, he's busy, I told you that Ameerah"

"Daddy" Ameerah said and instantly began to cry. The little girl cried and kicked the back of the passenger's seat from her car seat until her mother finally agreed to call up her daddy.

With slightly shaky hands Fatima hits the call button when she reaches his contact.

She hits speaker phone and hands her phone to her daughter.

"Daddy!" she happily exclaimed when he answered.

"Hello my darling" he said to her, he sounded happy, thought Fatima. She was hoping he would sound miserable like how she feels.

"How are you daddy?" she said smiling very widely.

"I'm fine baby, how are you and mommy?" he asked.

"Mommy is fine. She can't talk to you" Fatima's heart skipped a beat, does she know?

"Why?" Aliyu asked.

"She is driving" Fatima releases a breath she didn't know she was holding.

"Where are you going?" he asks.

"Amusementpark" she said.

"Really, so are you going to have fun?" he asks, trying to have a longer conversation.

"Yeah" she said excitedly.

"Tell mommy that daddy misses her, and he can't wait to see her" Fatima was glad she had already parked the car because the second she heard that her vision was blurred with tears.

"Okay daddy, I love you" she says.

"Love you too baby, tell mommy I love her too" that brought the tears out, she was glad her daughter was so busy talking to her father on the phone she didn't see her tiny breakdown.

"Bye" she said and waved at the phone.

"Bye baby" he says and hangs up the phone.

Ameerah hands the phone back to her mother and recited all that her daddy wanted her to tell her mother, or at least she tried to, even though Fatima heard everything.

She knows every second she stays away from him she's trying his patience and there is a possibility for a huge temper break when she sees him. But this phone call has her second guessing everything she believed about his temper, it also had her feeling guilty for her rash decision nearly three months ago.
But it didn't have her regretting it. She was glad she left for reasons she found out even later on after she left.
