In SMS (the first book),
Person X is someone that thinks that they fell for someone else in school.
After some time, their feelings don't die, and when they get the chance to think about it, they realise "they don't have feelings for the other person anymore", that "it was just a crush" and they confronted the other person (Y) immediately, so that they don't get hurt. It wasn't really a lie that they liked Y, it's just that X hadn't really realised their actual feelings towards Y.
What really happens is that someone else enters X's life. They think they finally found love, and goes on with their relationship with that person. They later realise that "Z" just lied.
"Z" was using X for their own selfish fulfilment, and when X finds out, they're devastated.
X goes back to Y, telling Y that they were right, and that Z really was just using them.
It was then that X decides to choose, not to feel.
X decides to build their feelings again for Y, because Y was always there for them.
And it succeeds.
And now they're living their happily ever after.---
DOES THIS EVEN MAKE SENSE??
