"welcome home Micaiah" I whispered to him as we walked into our house

It's been almost a month and a half since the transplant and they're finally letting him home. Coincidently tomorrow is my graduation, so I guess you can say him coming home earlier than expected is my graduation gift from God.

"I gotta go out, you guys will be alright right?" Deivys asked while setting our bags down

"where you going?"

"just to meet a friend" He said

He's been doing that all month and I don't want to be that person but if he's cheating I'm gonna be tight. I told Vontez about it but he just thinks he's planning some kind of surprise. I want to believe that but who stays on the phone at 2am planning a surprise? Whatever kind of surprise it is it better be good, because I don't even like surprises.

"on your way back pick up some lucky charms for Storm, we're running out" I said

"aight, bye bae" He said kissing me on the cheek then running out

bae? fuck happened to babe?

"if that nigga cheating you gon eff him up for me right?" I asked Micaiah

He looked up at me and began to giggle. that's what I thought. I brought him upstairs to our room and laid him in the crib.

We've been living with Deivys ever since that incident. Of course the useless cops didn't find anything useful, but we got a huge insurance check so that's good. I honestly can't even blame them because whoever's been doing this is really good at covering their track. I can't expect the cops to be able to do much without any leads, plus this isn't a movie where the bad guy ends up doing something stupid to get caught.

I got downstairs to hear someone knocking on the door. I opened the door to Vontez and Storm. I had him pick her up from school since we were at the hospital with Micaiah.

"daddy" She said hugging me

"hey baby, how was school today?" I asked while crouching down to her height

"bad. I got a lot of homework" She said with a frown

Her definition of a lot of homework is having to color a sheet and also practice handwriting then having to read thirty minutes of a book. If this is a lot then she's gonna have a hard time in college, matter fact high school.

"aww, then let's get you something to eat then we can start. go wash your hands" I said standing back up

She nodded then walked away dropping her bag by the door.

"thank you" I said while Vontez walked in

"how many times I gotta tell you that you don't need to thank me. I love spending time with my lil homie" He said dropping down on the couch
