That Night...

I lay on the couch in my dark blue pyjamas, not even feeling heavy eyelids, and it's 11pm. Lachlan sat next to me, legs crouched up against his torso, wrapping a piece of string he found somewhere around two of his fingers.

I felt like we were all vampires or something, watching TV with no lights on in the house at all. I don't think any of us were really watching the movie.

"I'm bored, I'm just gonna go to bed, its past 11 o'clock anyway" Emma slowly stood up and walked to her bedroom.

"Same..." I replied, and headed to Lachlan's room.

Eventually we were all asleep. Emma snoring in her bed, Bianca lightly sleeping on the spare bed next to her. And in Lachlan's room, Lachlan breathing heavily in his bed, in a deep sleep, and Me snuggled up in my sleeping bag. I lay there, listening to the heavy rain splatter on the roof, and the thunder rumble, its been stormy for half an hour now.

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

BANG!

What was that!
It sounded like a gunshot coming from the street! Lachlan was clearly awake as well.

"Hannah?" He whispered.

"I heard it too" I whispered back.

We got out of bed and tip-toed to Bianca and Emma's room.

"Guys did you hear that gunshot?" I whispered to them.

They were both sitting up on their bed looking at the window.

"Yes..." Emma replied, turning to us.

"Just stay in here guys" Bianca replied quietly.

We sat together on their beds waiting to hear anything else, but it was dead silent.

"Guys it's-" Bianca got cut off.

It sounded like a woman's voice on the street screaming at the top of her lungs.
Emma immediately dove under her light pink blanket and put her hands over her ears. Bianca wrapped her arm around Emma and hushed her.
Lachlan and I sat closer to Emma and Bianca and slithered under the blanket as well, peeking out.

"Who is that?" I whispered, shivering of fear.

"You think I know!?" Bianca peeked out the window as she sat next to us.

"What do you see?" Lachlan asked.

At this stage we were all whispering as quiet as we can in case someone is listening...

"Oh my god..." Bianca put her hands over her mouth in shock.

"What is it?" Emma peeked her head out from under the blanket.

I sat up and peeked out the window. It was hard to see because it was pitch black outside and raining so much it was hailing, but in the faint glow of the street lights, I could see a woman lying on the footpath, her stomach covered in blood. As I saw it, my heart started pounding in my chest.

"What the hell..." I whispered.

"It looks like she was shot" Bianca looked at Lachlan, Emma and I as she spoke.

Lachlan and Emma sat up and looked at the dead lady lying motionless on the wet footpath outside our front yard. All of her blood was flowing down the path in the rain, staining the grass in our front yard.

"Wait a second..." Lachlan started.

"What?" Bianca asked.

"If she was shot, then where is the crazy lunatic who shot her?"
We all stare at each other in horror.

"Hang on, whats that next to her?" I point at a small black object that looks like it was thrown on the ground and left there.

"It's... a gun I think..." Bianca squinted her eyes at it.

It was a gun indeed.

"Maybe she killed herself..." Lachlan exclaimed.

"Maybe... but if she killed herself, she wouldn't of done it on a street, and she would've shot herself in the head, and, she wouldn't of screamed because she knew it was going to happen" I explained.

Everything I just said seemed pretty convincing and true to me, but they might think differently...

"Good point... maybe someone killed her and ran out of ammo so they left the gun there to make it look like she killed herself?" Bianca suggested.

"Exactly!" I replied quietly.

"Yeah... but where is the killer now?" Lachlan stared at us blank faced.

"Guys stay under the blanket and don't move and don't make a sound" Bianca ordered as she got up and shut the curtains, covering the window we were just looking out of.
She left Emma's bedroom, and came back a few minutes later.

"I made sure all of the windows were shut and locked, and I shut all the curtains, and especially, I made sure the front and back door were locked." Bianca explained as she got under the blanket. "I left all of the doors to each room opened in case we can't stay in Emma's room the whole night..."

"Ok..." We replied.

Just then we heard a huge smash come from the lounge room, and at the same time, a huge boom of thunder, the weather just had to make it scarier. the lounge room is next to Emma's bedroom unfortunately.
Lachlan and Emma's house are one of those houses with a hallway down the middle and rooms on the sides.
We all jumped a bit as we heard it because it was very loud and unexpected.

"I'm scared..." Emma whispered.

"We all are..." I replied.

As we heard the smash we also heard the sound of glass shattering everywhere a second after. Someone had just broke the window and come in the lounge room in case you didn't realize. We were all slightly shivering of fear.

"I don't wanna die" Emma sobbed.

"Shhh" Bianca hugged Emma under the blanket.

"We have to get out of here" I whisper.

"The killer will see us" Bianca replied.

"We can't stay here because when he comes in this very room he'll definitely not notice this big lump under the blanket" I replied sarcastically.

Bianca rolled her eyes and sighed at my terrible but funny sarcasm.

"I agree with Hannah" Lachlan said.

"We can't leave the house because the doors are to loud, and the intruder can steal things if we're not in here, but we can hide in other rooms" I continued.

"I suppose you're right..." Bianca finally agreed.

I was about to say we should move when we heard footsteps slowly moving around in the lounge room on the other side of the wall.
We all froze and listened carefully to the footsteps of the murderer.

"Come on" I got out from under the blanket and tip-toed silently and slowly to the door.

The others followed, making sure not to make a sound.

"We'll go in my parents room since they're not home" Lachlan whispered and pointed across from Emma's bedroom door to his parent's bedroom door.

"Ok" We replied.

We tip-toed into Lachlan and Emma's parents' room and hid in a different place each in that one room.

Emma hid under the bed, Bianca hid in the closet, I hid behind the chair in the corner of the room, and Lachlan hid behind all of the pillows on the bed since there were about 1000 damn pillows for decoration and 2 for sleeping on.

Hey guys how was part 1? Part 2 coming soon!
