One month later

Emily

"Your kidding right?" I stared at the large house, after the attack John thought it was a good idea to leave Birmingham for a while and while I did not want to leave he assured me it was only for the weekend and we would be staying with Tommy and Lotte at their place. However I thought it would be a simple yet grand house maybe four bedrooms. but this was too much. it was a mansion

"Look they have horses" Ellie gasped excitedly as she pointed out the back seat while David equally looked excited at the vast space.

"Come on"

Immediately my siblings ran towards the four horses which occupied the field. John laughed and bent down to hug his children who ran out of the house towards him with excited smiles.

"There she is" Arthur walked out next and held his arms open "the prettiest girl in Birmingham"

"Hi Arthur" I hugged him with a genuine smile on my face "how are you"

"A lot better now that your here" he pulled back and shouted towards my siblings who loved him they yelled and ran off as Arthur chased behind them.

"Hi Emily" Lotte Shelby was a beautiful sight, I had to admit if I was going to be intimidated by any of the Shelby family it would have to be Lotte. she held this innocent, calm yet dangerous air to her and I would most defiantly not like to be on her bad side "you ok?"

"Yes I just didn't expect your house to be...well...so huge"

Scoffing and rolling her eyes "I swear that boy" turning she called John who held each of his sons under both arms "Polly brought you up better than that, you could have warned the girl"

Grinning he winked at me before setting his boys down who clutched to his side as he walked our way "I wanted it to be a surprise" Lotte mumbled underneath her breath before walking towards my siblings who were still running from Arthur

"Your an ass" I said with a smirk

Grinning he leaned down and placed his lips on mine, the kiss was slow and soft with an underlining of lust as he held my chin gently. Pulling back he gently nipped my bottom lip "am I still an ass?"

"Yes" I replied with a small smile

He chuckled and kissed my cheek before realizing his boys were still by his side "Boys you remember Emily right?"

"Yeah" Toby replied while smiling up at me, he and David has become fast best friends. Max also got on great with David but Toby and David seemed to click instantly.

"Nice to see you again" Max said, Max reminded me a lot of Tommy strangely they both had that thing of he can say one thing but mean another. he didn't seem to dislike me which was good but also like he was on guard in case things between me and John deteriorated. Things between me and John had actually progressed. on the morning we both woke up from John sleeping over at mine he has officially asked if I wanted to be his.

Flashback

"What's this?" as I walked home from work John stood outside, his lip bleeding slightly as he toyed with the toothpick in his mouth

"We missed our date, David and Ellie are with Polly and Ada so they'll be well and truly knackered by tonight"

"Who David and Ellie or Polly and Ada?"

Chuckling he opened the car door "come on you promised me a date"

We went to an open field with a few men curious as to what we were doing I quickly caught on as I saw clay pigeons and John handed me the gun "I figured you didn't want to go to a fancy restaurant but let loose instead" winking he led me closer and bowed dramatically "all yours"

At the end of the night John brought me back home and chuckled "I don't think you've stopped smiling"

"It was fun and I'm a way better shot than you"

sSaking his head he grinned back at me and it was nice to have a evening where it was just the two of us without any dangerous situations happening

"Emily, will you be mine?"

The pros and cons list I has developed in my head were pushing their way past the good memories of the date and were now yelling at me to think about this. pros: my siblings love him and he enjoys spending time with them, he's a worker yes it may not be legal per say but at least he's not a slump, he's never expected me to be or act like anyone else and seems to actually like me for me, he knows about my family and isn't running for the hills. cons the line of work he's in and dangerous and could easily affect me and my siblings, he could die at any moment. the though alone sent pain to my chest at the thought of not seeing John every again. With that I agreed to be with John and knew whatever came our way we would be able to deal with it.  

End of flashback

"Emily" breaking me from my memories was David who stomped over to me with an angry expression

"What is it?"

"Toby gave Ellie a flower, why is he giving Ellie a flower he's my friend"

Looking over at John I mock glared at him as he bit his bottom lip and looked down at his son who actually smiled back as we all knew why Toby gave Ellie a flower.

"Maybe he just wanted to be nice"

"Well he shouldn't be, I don't like it" stomping over to Arthur I heard him ask the same question

Looking over at Ellie she was smiling like crazy and held the small flower between her hands. swinging her legs back and forth as her and Toby sat on the bench which overlooked the horses.

I gasp brought my gaze away from my little sister and back to David who looked at me with a horrified expression "is that why boys give girls flowers?"

Arthur had the good sense to look sheepish before making his way into the safety of the house.
