Old Ties

C H A P T E R O N E

"EMILY! LET'S GO!" I yelled down the hall towards the bedrooms. Eddie was rushing towards me from the kitchen. "Have you seen my keys?" She asked urgently.

"Yeah, they were on the bedside ta-" I started but Eddie was already rushing past me. As I tied my tie in the mirror I heard Eddie yell "EMILY JANE REAGAN! IF YOU'RE NOT OUT HERE IN TWO MINUTES, YOU'RE WALKING TO SCHOOL!" 

I rushed over to grab an apple. Emily had woken up late and she hadn't had breakfast. I opened the fridge and grabbed one of Eddie's smoothies. Of course, she'd added extra sugar. I tightened the jar cap as Emily yelled "I'M COMING!" 

As Eddie rushed out of our bedroom, Emily came out of hers. She had on a denim jacket, with a black top tucked into a red skirt. "Has anyone seen my laptop?" Emily asked, opening her backpack, looking for it.

"On the table." Eddie replied. "Now lets go!" She decreed, opening the door and shooing Emily out the door. I locked it behind us as we headed to the car.

"Reagans! You're late!" Sargent Galatas called to us. 

"Sorry, Sarge. Had a little trouble getting the kid out of the house this morning." Eddie replied. Galatas said something about knowing the struggle, but all I could notice was Kiera Walkins, who was at her desk packing her things. 

"What, you get sick of me?" I laughed, looking at her. 

Kiera looked up and smiled at me. "Im not sick of you." She smiled, laughing. She put a picture of her and her husband, Mark, into the box. 

"So why're you leaving?" Jamie asked. Kiera looked down and opened one of the drawers, pulling out an envelope. She walked around the desk and handed it to me smiling. She then rested against the desk as I opened it. Inside was an ultrasound photo. "Congratulations!" I exclaimed, hugging her. "I thought you'd just gotten bored of me."

Kiera punched me in the arm. "That's unlikely." She rolled her eyes at me.

"Where are they sending you?" I asked.

"One PP." Kiera smiled. "Only until I take off for maternity leave, then I'm back here." 

"I look forward to when you return." I tell her as  Galatas yelled "Reagans! My office!"

I look down then smile apologetically for leaving. Kiera nods and grabs her box, turning towards the exit. I walk over to the office, Eddie right behind me. As we walk in, I notice two people sitting in chairs. One woman and one man. I close the door as Galatas motions me to. I walk over to where Eddie is standing, off to the side. I notice the man, about my age. Looking at me and realize I know him. But Galatas started to talk before I could say anything.

"Eddie, Jamie, I've been looking for new partners for you as Walkins just left on maternity leave to One PP, and Vander..." Galatas started, but from the look on Eddie's face, stopped. "..and Vander was recently killed in the line of duty"- Eddie looked down -" you both are in need of new partners. Eddie, as I'm sure you've been pretty bored recently with being on desk duty."

"Bored doesn't even start to cover it." Eddie muttered. I saw the woman start to giggle silently, until he nudged her and she stopped.

"Your new partner will be Beatrice Prior." Galatas nodded to Prior. Prior got up and shook hands with Eddie.

"Jamie, your new partner will be-"

"Jamie Reagan." Tobias got up and walked over to me. 

"Tobias Eaton." I say walking over to him and hugging him.

When we break apart, I notice Eddie giving me a confused look, which is almost the exact same expression which is on Beatrice's face. I just shrugged. 

"Also." Galatas started in a 'no nonsense' kind of way. "Reagan, Prior, you have a murder on 6th. Reagan, Eaton, a burglary on 12th." 

Beatrice and Eddie walked out, follow by Tobias, then me. "Hey." I stopped Tobias. "Do you still go by Four?" 

Tobias smiled at me. "Not often. Just close friends and Tris. Now come on, we've got a burglary to investigate." Tobias started walking towards the door. "I call driving!" I yelled as we pushed our way out the door. "We both know that it won't end well if you drive."

A/N: I know this isn't completely Blue Bloods but I'm just as in love with Divergent and I had to do this so I hope you guys like! I might do it from Emily's point of view sometimes but I haven't decided yet. This is the second book in my Emily Universe, I hope you like it!
