The Distance

Coffee and chocolate cake

Minhyun bit his lip fiddling with his thumbs as he waited in line with Baekho. He doesn't know why he agreed to join him, or even take him up on his offer. Maybe it was his smile, he looked over at Baekho who was looking over the menu.

"Do you like chocolate?" He asked turning his head to Minhyun his eyes full of curiosity. Minhyun blushed and nodded.

"Yeah, I love chocolate. " Baekho nodded and smiled.

"I don't really like chocolate, but since you do we'll get that." He said smiling. Minhyun looked at him in slight awe, Aron didn't ever ask him or do things like that for him. He smiled slightly and nodded.

"Okay... Thank you. " he said softly. Baekho looked at him and smiled wide his eye smiles coming out again.

"Ah, good. Smile, you look cute-" he paused and blushed then looked away. Minhyun chuckled blushing again.

"So are you... " He said nudging Baekho. Baekho smiled and looked at Minhyun leaning in slightly.

"Why'd he cheat on you? If I were your boyfriend, I wouldn't ever... You're too cute." He said softly to Minhyun. Minhyun's face flushed and he looked away.

"I-I don't know... But I'm sure you'd make a great boyfriend. You're really sweet, despite you looking really mean." He said. Baekho looked at him confused.

"I look mean?" He asked concerned. Minhyun laughed and nodded.

"Well, it's more like you look really serious and intimidating." He said. Baekho frowned and sighed.

"You're lucky you're cute... Cause other wise I wouldn't buy you coffee or cake." Minhyun laughed again and pushed him slightly.

"Stop calling me that. I'm not cute." He protested. Baekho shook his head and stepped up to the counter to order. He got to small coffees and a slice of chocolate cake. Minhyun smiled as he ordered, Baekho was cute.

Baekho lead them to a table by the window and sat across from Minhyun. He sighed softly and chuckled slightly.

"What is it?" Minhyun asked. Baekho shook his head, then looked up at him.

"Nothing it's just I usually don't buy people things like this when I first meet them. But you looked like you needed a little help." He admitted. Minhyun smiled and buried his face in his hands.

"Stop being so cute... It's not fair." Minhyun said, Baekho laughed. Minhyun parted his fingers and looked at him 'even his laugh is cute... What am I going to do?' He thought to himself.

"I'm not the cute one here." He moved Minhyun's hands away. "You are" he said leaning in. Minhyun's eyes widened and leaned back quickly.

"H-hey don't do things like that!" He said flustered. Baekho's face fell "Warn me first." He mumbled. Baekho smiled wide and nodded.

     "Alright. But next time I'll actually kiss you." He said smiling. Minhyun laughed softly, before glancing at Baekho's lips. Baekho bit his lip and smirked. "Already thinking about it?" He teased. Minhyun felt his face turn red, he covered his face and laid his head on the table.

       "Shut up." He muttered. His heart was going nuts 'Why am I like this already? I just met him...' he thought to himself. Baekho laughed and patted Minhyun's head.

     "Sorry, sorry... Its fun to pick on you. You blush so easy." Minhyun pouted and glared at him his face still flushed. Baekho laughed again covering his mouth to stifle his laughter.

      "Don't make fun of me." He whined. The paused briefly as the waitress came by and set their coffee and cake down. Minhyun smiled. "The cake looks so good!" He said perking up. Baekho swallowed hard as he looked at Minhyun.

     'Shit... I think I'm in love...' he thought to himself. He cleared his throat and nodded. Minhyun picked up his fork and took a bite of the cake, he let out a soft moan. Baekho choked on his coffee blushing a deep red, Minhyun laughed and covered his mouth.

"Sorry... It's just really good." He said before getting another bite and holding it up to Baekho's mouth. "Here try." He offered smiling. Baekho nodded and ate it slowly.

"Mm, you're right... it's really good." He said after swallowing. Minhyun jumped slightly as he felt his phone vibrate, he pulled it out and answered it.

"Hello?" He asked.

"Where are you? Do you still need us to come get you?" J.R. asked.

"Oh, no... Sorry, I'm okay. I'm with someone right now- no it's not Aron... Stay downtown with him then, he loves it here." He protested. J.R. let out a grumbled fine then hung up.

"Who was that?" Baekho asked sipping his coffee.

"My brother. He was going to pick me up... But since you kinda swooped in, I told him I was okay." He said softly. Baekho smiled and nodded.

After they finished their coffee and cake they walked out together. Both laughing and a lot closer to each other too. Minhyun sighed softly as he stepped aside.

"I should probably head home... Thank you for the coffee and cake though. " he said. Baekho nodded stepping close to Minhyun.

"Don't thank me... You needed it. " Minhyun swallowed as Baekho began to close the distance between them. He felt his cheeks turn red, his throats went dry and he couldn't form words. Baekho cupped his cheek and kissed him softly, Minhyun's eyes widened slightly before melting into the kiss. He wrapped his arms around Baekho's neck and felt Baekho's hand hold his lower back. He pulled back and blinked his eyes open slowly, he swallowed hard.

"That... I-uh..." Baekho laughed and nodded.

"Yeah... Me too." He said gently. "Can I get your number?" He asked chuckling softly. Minhyun nodded quickly then handed his phone the Baekho. He put in his number then handed it back to him.

"Here... Text me. Okay?" He said smiling. Baekho nodded and handed Minhyun back his phone.

"Yeah... I will." He said as he watched Minhyun walk away. He stood there, slightly breathless unsure of how to react to what had just happened. He was pretty sure about one thing though, he had just met the love of his life.
