Yuri

Stretching out in class isn't normally something that Yuri does on a regular basis, but at this point he's tired enough not to care. All he was thinking about at the moment was his recent diagnosis from his doctors appointment. Sometimes he wonders, why him?

Ava

Sitting at her desk minding her own business, Ava has a hard time concentrating on her work. She had worked late the previous night and hadn't had a very restful night. She gave up on her assignments and started gazing at the walls in the room and the students who are also half asleep. Her gaze rests on the boy sitting across from her. He is staring at his desk, but his hands aren't moving and there's no work. Then she looks at his face which seems to be faded with worry and pain.

"Hey, you ok?" she said as she leans over the side of her desk and whispers.

Yuri

Distantly hears something in the background around him and snaps himself out of his trance. Yuri looks around him and sees the girl next to him leaning a little over her desk and looking at him.

"Uh, sorry. What did you say?" he asks.

She rolls her eyes at him and repeats her sentence.

"I asked if you were ok?" she said.

He was surprised, typically in this class no one ever wants to talk to him. To be honest, no one in the school talks to him.

"Oh, yeah I'm fine" he says.

She raises her eyebrow at him and looks at him questionably.

"That didn't sound very convincing" she said.

This girl is something else. He responds with a shake of his head and a smile.

"What do you want from me then, an essay?"

She smiles herself. "No, but if you are going to act smart I don't have to ask at all".

At that point she stops leaning over her desk and looks at her work. To Yuri, he fines this so much more entertaining than work.

He leans over his desk and whispers, "I never asked you to ask me if I was ok."

She didn't seem amused by that at all. She thinks for a minute and then comes back with:

"Do you usually reject a person who is trying to make sure that you are not turning insane?"

He chuckles at this. "You're kind of late on that part bucko". He leans back into his chair.

Ava

Ava has no idea how some people can be so annoying. She stops leaning over her desk and rests back in her chair.

"Bucko...Really?" she said in her half angry half irritated voice.

He just looks at her and says "I don't know, I'm kind of unsure".

Ava's voice turns into full irritated. "Why is that then?"

"No reason in particular". He replied.

Ava gave up. She turned her full attention back to her desk and tries focusing. Out of the corner of her eye she also sees him go back to staring at the desk. Ava hasn't been able to focus for an hour and a half, so she decides she has had enough and crumples her work for the day. No one noticed and no one cared, especially the guy across from her. She moves the extra supplies off of her desk and decides to go to sleep til class is over.

Sure enough, an hour later the bell rang, and as she began to wake up she noticed that her face was stiff from sleep.

The guy across from her was quietly laughing at her, probably from the marks on her face. She didn't care. That is, she didn't care until she saw that he was walking with a lim. And not just a "pulled-muscle" limp, this is "I had something removed" type of limp.

He walks fully out the door, and Ava didn't know what to think of him. He's a pain to be around, but at least he has a pretty good sense of humor.
