We're Alright

chapter 5

After school I wait outside for my mom to pick me up. Today was a weird day. I had a few classes with Rose but those same classes I had with Carter too. He makes me feel uncomfortable. I have never met someone like him. His confidence scares me, the way he talks to everyone. In math class today he fell asleep and when the teacher woke him up he said "My godness Sir, why did you wake me up?, I was having an dream about this hot girl I met yesterday." Don't get me wrong, it was funny but I would never be able to talk to a teacher that way. 

My mom honking multiply times broke me from my thoughts. I walked over to her and I could see the big smile on her face.

"sooo...." she says slowly driving away from the school. 

"sooo..." I say back. She rolls her eyes and I almost laugh. I knew she wanted every single detail about my day but I was in a mood to annoy her. I was happy for a reason that I couldn't explain. 

"uhhh Julia you are so difficult, I really have to explain everything to you" she says keeping her eyes on the road. 

"Ok mom fine" I say laughing "My day was fine, which is really awesome considering it was a first day, I mean you don't find that many people that get to say that about their first day of school" I say smiling at her. She was now smiling too, and I was glad that I was atleast able to make someone happy. 

When we got home, I barely had any time for my self. I missed a month of school at Johnson and needed to make up huge amounts of work.  In the middle of doing my science report, my phone buzzed. It was a text from an unknown number. 

'Hey Julia, its Rose' , the text message said. I remember giving Rose my number today but I didn't think she would actually get in touch with me, at least not on the first day. 

'Oh hey Rose, How's it going? Is there something you need?' I reply back to her. 

'Oh not at all, I was just wondering if you would like to go to a party that my friend was having, it'll be a great chance for you to meet people' . I smiled at the text, Rose was a nice girl but I don't really want to meet people, I mean that was kind of my plan... to stay away from people. The more you get attached to people, the more likely you are to get hurt by them. 

'I don't really like parties Rose plus I wasn't invited and its a weekday' I reply back to her hoping she will back off but she didn't. 

'Oh you don't have to worry about that, she is one of my closest friends, and i'm allowed a guest so your my guest. Come on Julia I promise it'll be fun, we all need to live a little, you know with all this school pressure and stuff '. I stare at the text message for a while. "Live", i kept saying the word over and over, thinking what  I don't really like life so how do I actually live life. 

"Okay" I reply smiling at my own text. 

'Great!, Meet me at the store across the street from school and we can walk from there, it isn't far from there" 

After getting ready in jeans and a black blouse I grabed my coat and headed towards the school. My mom offered to drive me but i declined, i felt like taking a walk anyway. she didn't protest about me going to a party on a week day, she was dying for me stop being anti-social. A gust of wind hit me as I walked to the school. I looked up at the stars wondering what Leo might be doing right now. Does he wonder about me too?

Flashback*

"Hi beautiful" I heard a voice say from behind. I smiled but didn't look back, I didn't have to.  It was 8 P.M and I sat on the bench out side our school. Leo wanted to meet again before he went on vacation to visit his family in Canada. 

He sat down next to me. "You're late, as usual" I said looking up at him.  He smiled at me and i couldn't help but smile back. 

"I know but I promise I have a good reason his time" , he said turning his whole body toward me to talk. 

He talked moving his hands around trying to explain his reason for being late, but of course I wasn't listening, I was too busy looking at his beautiful eyes. It even scared me sometimes thinking about how much I love him. 

"Helloooo!!!" , he said waving his hand in front of my face, waking me from my thoughts. "Did you listen to anything i said?" he asked looking like a child. 

"Yes, i'm listening" i lied. 

"so do you forgive me?" he asked. I smiled at him and nodded. 

"You know Julia i'm going to miss that smile when I go to Canada" he said look up at the sky.

"Oh really, I heard you were sure excited to get rid of me for a month" i said teasing him. 

He smiled and took my hand in his. "I can neve get rid of you, your my everything. You know that right?" he asked looking serious. My smile disapeared. 

"Leo I was only joking, I know how much you love me and you have no idea how hard this whole month is going to be. I am dependent on you for everything. Who is going to get me coffee in the morning? Who is going to remind me about after schook programs? Who am going to talk to when I can't sleep? What am I gonna do without you?" I asked taking a deep breath. 

He took both my hands in his. "calm down Julia, I'll be back before you know it, every time you miss me, just look up at the stars and I'll be with out I promise" he said pointing to the beautiful stars glowing in the sky. "Okay?" he said looking back at me. I closed my eyes and nodded. 

End of flashback* 

I looked the the floor below me and signed. 

"Hey Julia!" i heard a voice say. I looked up with wide eyes. 

"Oh sorry i didn't mean to scare you" Rose said. "You ready to go?" 

"Yea, I said nodding. Rose's friend's house was not far from the school. It only took us about five minutes to get there. I was shocked when we entered the house. The music was so loud, and there were people dancing with red cups in there hands. 

"Hey Julia, wait here will you?, I'll go find my friend" Rose said as she started walking towards the kitchen. 

"Hi there" someone said taping my shoulder. I turned around to find Carter smiling down at me. 

Oh no
