Goodbyes

It is officially the day I move.. Living with my Aunt has been interesting, but I've been able to lock myself away with the excuse of revision to avoid any drama. I have just come out of my last exam and unfortunately it's time for me to pack my car and leave..

Maisie, my dearest friend, was coming to help me pack the car along with Dan and Cody.. I've been saying my farewells to everyone else throughout the week, I wouldn't have been able to go without saying anything and I wouldn't have been able to cope with doing it all at once.

I was walking along the pavement when two hands covered my eyes and I heard someone whisper 'boo' faintly in my ear. Cody.

'Cody' I wined, 'get off.'

'How did you know it was me?' he said, letting go and grabbing my hand with a wink.

I just laughed in response and gave his hand a squeeze, its the way he's always been and probably always will be, a cheeky little chap. Boy I'm going to miss him.

We continued walking in silence for a minute before he pulled me to a stop just around the corner from my Aunts..

'What are you doing?' I asked, genuinely puzzled by why we'd stopped. And that's when he turned to me, taking hold of my other hand and looking into my eyes, I swear my breath hitched a little bit..

'I just wanted...' he started quietly, 'I just wanted to say one last thing before you go and while we're alone.. I want you to be careful Rosie, I know you're getting better but you cannot let this move unsettle you okay? You're the strongest person I know and you can do this, I have complete faith in you! I will honestly miss you so much.. Your laugh, your smile, your cheesy little jokes, everything. And I promise you that we will not lose touch, I'll be skype-ing you so much that you'll soon be getting bored of me.. You just need to stay strong.' He untangled one of his hands from mine and brought it up to my face to wipe away the tears I didn't even realise had begun to fall.. 'I love you Rose Deity and I always have.'

He gently pressed his lips to mine, at first I was too shocked to respond but I soon did and kissed him just as gently back.. He wrapped his arms around my small frame and we just stood there in comfortable silence, hugging each other as if one might disappear if we let go..

I needed to go - I told myself.. I need to start this long drive no matter how hard it is going to be. With that in mind I gently separated myself from Cody and took his hand again, giving him a smile smile before turning the corner and arriving at my Aunts..

Maisie and Dan were on the drive waiting with what seemed to be forced smiles on their faces. I could see the sadness in Maisie's eyes, they mirrored the look in mine..

Everything was suitcased up so it didn't take long to load the car, that's when the waterworks started.. This was my goodbye..

Dan came up first and gave me a massive hug with a kiss on the cheek. As we did so he whispered, 'Good Luck Rose, I'll stay in touch.' This just made me laugh with the response of, 'You better!'

Next was Maisie, gosh she was crying more that I was! 'I'll miss you RoRo,' she said shakily while giving me a tight hug. This lasted for a while, neither one of us wanting to let go, but we knew we had to..

Lastly was Cody, he'd already said his goodbye round the corner but this didn't stop him.. I ran into his arms, his grip tightening around me.. He gently kissed me on the forehead whispered comforting words to me.. Gosh this was going to be harder than I thought..

I finally got away after one last group hug. I got into my car still in tears at the thought of leaving my three best friends in the world behind even thought I knew it had to be done. And with that, I was off - I carefully reversed off the drive and turned on my say nav, glancing behind and waving once more.. Then off I set away from everything and to start anew in England, a whole new adventure ahead of me..
